Sorting Out My Scent Journey
Where are you at in your journey? I have been thinking about mine, and some patterns are starting to show.
What I like: scents with dimension. Bleu de Chanel, Dior Homme Eau for Men, and John Varvatos (original) have that layered feel I enjoy. My new Prada Luna Rossa Ocean Le Parfum and Montblanc Explorer Ultra Blue also fit here. They open fresh but reveal more as they settle.
What I do not like: fragrances that come off too sweet or flat. The Azzaro Wanted line did not land for me, and Burberry Brit is one I really detest. Glad I didn't buy Azzaro as a "everyone likes it" or "it's popular". But Brit... that's a darn bottle.
What I am ok with: Jimmy Choo Man. I kind of like it. It is not a top favorite, but I do not mind reaching for it now and then. Burberry Touch also falls here. Wearable, even if it does not stand out.
I am also about halfway through my Dior Fahrenheit, which tells me it is one I keep coming back to when I want something with more edge.
One other thing: I used to think the idea that scent could impact your emotional state was bonkers. I heard Antoni say it in a video and brushed it off. But the more I have worn different fragrances, the more I have realized he was right. I have started using that to my advantage. Fresh scents when I want focus, warmer ones when I need a boost.
I even keep a wish list of bottles I want to try next. Bad Boy Parfum is on there, which is kind of funny given some of its scent notes, but it keeps my curiosity going. That is part of the fun. This journey keeps opening new directions.
