Calming Regulation For Kids - Guided Meditation
I just spent a couple of hours today with my eldest crafting a guided meditation for him (and kids like him) to act as a daily session that will both help them calm and regulate, as well as give them tools to do so on their own. He helped with the wording, structure, pacing, volume mixing, and imagery, making it 'perfect'! If you have a kid (or are just after a quick and simple 5 minute calming session), you can play the session below, or click into the classroom and find it in the 'fundamental practices' course. My boy is pretty happy with his work, so if you have any feedback, feel free to respond to this email and I will pass it on :)

Calming Regulation For Kids - Guided Meditation
Introducing The Regulation Tool Box
In the classroom section you will see a growing colleciton of resources available. Check them out! The Regulation Toolbox will give you quick-access practices to help you calm your body, steady your mind, and return to balance. Each session will introduce a different technique or process that you can add to your regulation toolbox. Try them all and store them for later use when you need them (audio downloads!). Each track has had 1000's of plays on Insight Timer and are all rated and reviewed with an average of 4.5+/5 stars The regulation toolbox will unlock when you reach level 2 (or are a premium group member) Basically, the more you post in the group, the more people will like your posts, each like counts as a point. Earn 5 points to unlock level 2 and the tool box! Click in the 'leaderboard' tab to see the levels and what they unlock. (full transparency, this is a good way to encourage group engagement and give you something that may support you - win win!)

I have also just added a 'Panic Attack & Trigger Relief" track - basically a break glass in case of emergency kind of thing that will help you reduce the intensity, duration, and impact of distressing physical and mental sensations, and to come back to a felt sense of inner and outer safety :)

Decide To Start Living
I saw this image and it really got me thinking. I’m a massive advocate of the idea of try everything first. Before you do something you can’t take back, try everything first. Try everything first. That advice has save my life multiple times. And the more I share it, the more lives it saves. But this image has prompted something new, what is the equivalent of ‘try everything first’ when it comes to thriving. When it comes to choosing to live a life that is worth living, to become self actualised, to follow our dreams, to do what we were put here to do. Let me know what advice you could give someone to prompt this sort of emotional response.

@Heather Martinez This reminds me of a concept from DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) that is basically 'love yourself, whilst fixing yourself'. Work on the opposite aspects for improvement. Love this!

@Arthur Maddocks-Brown I love this approach and have worked with goals and journaling before. The thing that (used to) always get me was the fact that I was setting those goals from a place of lack/depression. Those goals weren't things to move toward, but rather shadows of what I wanted to avoid. Thus I would act towards them, but fall off - all that is except the goals that aligned with healing (eg doing a 10 day silent retreat). I am now, finally, finding inner calm and peace, and thus the goals I am making now are in alignment with my true values, working from a place of calm peace as opposed to chaotic inner stress. Amazing accomplishments! In Japan I climbed Mt Fujiu (nothing compared to Kilimanjaro!!)

We are almost at 100 members! Just want to thank everyone for joining in and contributing, and to remind us all to share and connect in the community, to offer and ask for support, to share what practices you are doing and what is arising as well as resources, quotes, or insightful content that is helping you to explore your inner world and heal. If you know anyone that would appreciate this community, invite them to join! Soon I will post a link to book a time to start the community podcast up fully - interviewing members of the community to explore who they are, what they are working on, and really get to connect with one another. Stay tuned! :)
