09JAN26 The Practice That Helped Most
Friday is all about celebrating the wins!!! All the wins.... even the smallest of them... Which practice (breathwork, grounding, slowing down, posture, baseline reset, etc.) shifted your internal state? Prompt: What practice helped you the most this week? Why this matters: Your nervous system responds to what you repeat, and what feels good... get repeated Name the tool that worked.

Meditation & journaling this week. Mediation helps me disconnect from the thoughts in my overactive mind for 5-10 minutes. Journaling helps me process the thoughts after I slow my mind down and to get out of my own head. I've never been consistent with these practices so right now I'm trying to lay the foundation and help them become daily habits.

What helped you pause instead of react today?

Man, this has been my focus recently. For me it's been pausing and trying to observe the emotions I'm feeling. I've also been journalling, meditating, eating right, running and going to the gym consistently again. I feel like that combination has helped me be less reactive.
05JAN26 Identity Through Repetition
"we are what we repeatedly do"- Aristotle Identity changes through what you repeatedly do, not what you intend. Action: Choose one small practice to repeat daily this week (breathwork, meditation, grounding, exercise, reading, etc.) and share your chosen identity in the comments! Why it matters: Consistency rewires self-belief, strengthens self-esteem, and stabilizes your internal world. Identity Line with Action: “I am someone who trains calm, and I will meditate every morning for five minutes" Share yours in the Comments!

In the past I've been to rigid and unrealistic with my goals. This year my goal is 10 minutes of quiet time per day. That quiet time will either be yoga, meditation or journaling. That will give me an opportunity listen to my body and lean whatever direction I feel is best each day. I want to apply my favorite lesson from recovery, it's one day at a time.

I'm Mike from Illinois. I'm just a dad that found running early on in my journey of recovery from alcohol addiction. I look forward to learning from you all while we heal and growing together.
