Brocades
I've been doing quite a bit of 8 Pieces lately. I don't want to get stuck on it to the exclusion of other practices, but it does provide a thorough full body workout, is easy to remember, and to practice almost everywhere. So a few questions: 1) I did a version of it the other day in my garden where I slowed all the movements right down, and interspersed them with some extended static poses: it felt really good but to my surprise it had taken a good hour and a half; often, I feel I practice too fast, but slow seemed to really work with Brocades -- how valid an approach is that? 2) Archer I've mentioned elsewhere: I tend to take the stance very low, about as low as I can take it, and incorporate elements from actual archery I did years ago (I must take that back up again!) so I look down the imaginary arrow as if I'm aiming a real one, try to "feel" the weight of the imaginary draw in what would be the bow and the string hand; 3) Punching: although I did the rest of Eight Pieces very slow, I felt the vibe to do Punching quite fast, compensating time-wise by doing more rounds of it than the other elements, and putting some force into the blow as if it were an actual martial arts practice; 4) Kidneys, on the way up my legs I like to exert gentle massage pressure on some problematic leg veins, especially around my right knee which gives me problems from an old injury, I also when down touching my ankles put a bit of acupressure on some points there, I do something similar with ones in the knee in other movements. I don't always do Brocade slow, and generally when not following live or recorded sessions I think I tend to practice QG too fast, left to my own devices. But this seemed to work. Any advice most welcomed!

I have been doing 8 pieces quite a bit as well. I was drawn to it as a classical form but I keep with it for the same reasons you mention: it's easy to learn/remember and you can do it anywhere. As you mentioned, all of the moves have a great ability to be done at many different paces. Interestingly to me, I do the opposite on Archer and punching. I find myself doing Archer faster and more but I go through punching incredibly slowly. I think that my mind slows punching in order to completely separate it from my time doing taekwondo and aikido many years ago

I did the 3/3 Qi & Flow this morning. Intention: Expanding my knowledge of the variety in Qi Gong/Tai Chi and introducing variety to my daily practice. I still intend to continue deepening my understanding of 8 Pieces of Brocade by practicing the full form in the evening. Tai Chi Walking was new to me and forced me to focus on my lower joints. Balance through the hips and knees and rotating/adjusting at the ankles as I walk paths through the living room. Finally getting close to the time when the weather will encourage me to practice outdoors.
Lunar Eclipse
I got up way early to practice under the full Blood Moon lunar eclipse. A truly celestial experience!

It is a beautiful sight - very peaceful. I like the idea of practicing under the sky and stars.

Days 5 & 6 (missed posting): Before: tired, hopeful After: grounded, prepared Next steps: I am planning to move into the 8 pieces of brocade. I want to focus on a set that I can learn and use whenever (and wherever) I am. 8 Pieces being a common, classical form seems like a good place to start. Also, deciding to focus on a single form for now will hold me into the study, rather than jumping around to different styles.

@Tony Petrovic ther le isn't any specified structure to continue on. It's your journey and you get to choose what's next. Many people choose to repeat some (or all) of the 7 day challenge while others move to learning something different You can choose to sample something or move into a specific structure. I chose to move to the 8 pieces of brocade and I study different techniques and moves each day while doing the full form. I also considered doing different recorded sessions to find a variety that feel right for me. I would say the main thing is to keep moving and to find what is right for you.

This morning I decided to try an exploration of 8 pieces of brocade. I started with some basic warm-ups and then moved into the first form. I practiced each until it felt right to move on. For some it was when I felt that I had it and it had sunk in. For others (Archer/punching), it was when I felt myself beginning to slip from strain. Overall it felt good. It was my pace and my control. I could examine different parts of each and different feelings in myself by doing this
