The Secret Sauce to Trust & Conversion? Your Thoughts on Reviews & Testimonials! 🗣️💬
Hey, I wanted to share something interesting with you. Did you know that 95% of people say that reviews or testimonials influence purchasing decisions? According to a Big Commerce report, 72% of consumers said that reviews and testimonials increase their trust in a company. Additionally, every time a consumer interacts with a review, they generate 62% more revenue per site visitor, and consumers who interact with reviews are 58% more likely to convert and buy WOW! I like to reframe reviews and testimonials as shares because, today, most people have a social presence, making literally anyone an influencer. We regularly look at the experiences shared by posters on places like Amazon, Yelp, YouTube, and the like to influence our purchasing decisions. It has to do with a well-studied truth when it comes to behavioral psychology: People are more likely to trust and follow the actions of others. The opportunity for content and course creators? As a content or course creator, incorporating shares (reviews and testimonials) into your audience reach strategy can significantly increase conversion rates by 30% - 67%. Furthermore, websites using testimonials saw a 45% increase in traffic compared to those who didn't use them. These statistics demonstrate the substantial positive effect of testimonials and reviews on the conversion rate in marketing and sales. If you want to make your audience reach strategy more engaging, sharing such as reviews and testimonials can be a great way to do it. To make sure the testimonials are effective, it's important to prompt your customers with the right questions. A good testimonial covers 3 main things, so be sure to prompt your customer with the following questions: - What were you struggling with before buying my product? - What is life like now after you bought my product? - How does that make you feel? You could capture testimonials in text, but the most powerful way is in a video format. Many platforms are available today that make collecting video testimonials more straightforward for you and your customers.

We have always asked a series of questions originally based on The Brain Audit, by Sean D'Souza. Then we write a testimonial based on their answers and run it by them before using it. When it comes to submitting a testimonial on a separate platform, we give them the direct link and the copy of The final testimonial for them to copy and paste. We’ve also found that video testimonials seem to work best, rather than only having text. I think simply having some videos adds a lot of clout. Even if the prospect doesn’t watch them, it seems to legitimate the text-based testimonials. Additionally, a curious thing came out of this when coaching bands in building their music careers for a couple of decades. While quotes from official reviews is the norm, and harder to come by, I’ve found that quotes from fans work just as well. I have to wonder if that would work for book blurbs too.

I'm on track to launch a high-ticket program for rock singers in the next few months. It's a long-time coming, and well tested, so hopefully, some of the details I've gathered can help you. I've been researching singers and building various other programs with other teachers for years, from high-ticket live workshops to lower-ticket memberships, lots of courses, and helping teachers grow from a few thousand a month to $30k+/mo. After decades of coaching bands in their careers, I was fortunate enough to team up with one of the biggest names in European metal to coach bands for a few years as well. I"m also happy to say that one of my friends has now grown her guitar teaching business with courses and live events to nearly $100k/mo! I'm glad to have a behind-the-scenes perspective on her business, but I'm much more excited to see the freedom and enjoyment she';s getting from helping so many people. I'm excited to finally launch a program on my own, beyond courses or building things for others. Since my team is currently focused on a new free community and podcast, and after going through Mariah's paid content, I'm taking the time before launch to see what I can scale back. I have yet to wrap my head around how to teach a skill like rock singing asynchronously, especially since my teachers' and my 1:1 lessons tend to be a whole hour of troubleshooting the voice, training customization, directed application, and discussion. I imagine it will be a transitionary period with a lot of testing on my current students. Monetize with Mariah has been an inspiration and great help in fleshing out the final details to test with my current students. Her private podcast and instruction on higher ticket programs are indispensable. So far, the things that will definitely be included are two courses, one on Rock Singing and one more Extreme Singing, laid out as a success path that includes goals, evaluations, and tests along the way, most likely in an asynchronous format. The community is the #1 focus, taking a lot of what I learned from Stu McLaren about community, and adding Mariah's suggestions. Also taking inspiration from Mariah, it will include a private podcast that answers individual questions, reformed to benefit the whole community.

I think both could be great. You could a/b test ads and see which one is worth putting more time into. In the end, you could still sell both, even if as an offer in your onboarding emails.

One of my youngest rock singing and music career students sharing the front of the stage with Jon Anderson, lead singer of Yes, for multiple summer tours.
short videos on IG or Youtube
Do you suggest to outsource short videos on IG or Youtube to freelancer, or agence or hire a marketing specialist who could take cares of it too? Thank you :D

@Mallory Whitfield We hired him as an employee, just no set schedule besides us limiting his hours now and then. He’s too busy with school to do too many hours anyway. Being an employee, he feels more ownership. Although I know that situation isn’t ideal for everyone. He’s also been inspired to start his own business and coaching program, and joined a pretty cool mastermind group he really resonates with to help him stay on track. We’re definitely proud of him!

@Sara Verbi Yes. But I’m curious as to what Mariah teaches in Monetize, since what she teaches seems more in line with my values and goals than Stu’s Tribe. Stu is a great teacher with a great system, but it didn’t seem like the best fit for me.
