Xin Qi Shen Newsletter | Beginner's Mind
For many years, decades actually, one of my teacher's Andy Dale produced an in house newsletter. I have archived almost all of the material and with his permission will be sharing articles and pieces from the vast collection. I thought it fitting to start with a piece on "Beginner's Mind" that I can remember reading way back when I first began training.

This is great. Thanks for sharing this Sonny @Kirby Mannon . What a great treasure to have received so much wisdom and then pass it along!
March Daily Chi Accountability Thread🌿
Here’s the March Daily Chi Accountability Thread. This is a supportive space to show up for your practice, build consistency, and move together as a community. Whether you joined a live session, practiced along with YouTube inside the community, or completed a self-paced course, it all counts. What matters most is that you showed up. This thread will stay pinned for daily check-ins, connection, and encouragement. ✅ How to Check In Each Day After you finish your practice, post a short check-in using these four steps: 1️⃣ Intention What did you want to focus on or cultivate today? 2️⃣ Practice What practice did you do today? Live session, YouTube, or self-paced are all welcome. 3️⃣ After How do you feel after completing your practice? One short sentence is perfect. 4️⃣ Visual Share a photo or short video of your practice, your screen, or your setup. ✨ Sample Check-In Intention: To slow down and reconnect with my breath Practice: Live Session 12-21-2025 After: Feeling grounded, calm, and present Photo or video attached There’s no right or wrong way to participate here. Show up in a way that feels good to you, support others when you can, and enjoy the process. One day. One breath. One practice.

Just checking in since attending the live session last Sunday. My daily practice continues to be a real treat. I look forward to it every morning. My focus remains on Yin Yang Qigong alternating with other practices. I feel myself getting stronger in tiny increments. I am so happy to have found my way into this community and practice.
Yin Yang Qigong
Intention: On a longer horizon, my intention is to build a steadily strengthening practice. I am happy to be about 5 weeks into this journey. Practice: right now I am alternating between recorded sessions of Yin Yang Qigong from the archive and the most recent sessions. Today was yin and yang. After: I really enjoy this progression of movements. I always feel better after my practice. Also, I had an interesting dream last night in which I was reflecting on yin and yang and connecting it to the concepts of action and contemplation. These ideas are already central to my spiritual life, and I was marvelling in my dream how neatly these ideas map onto yin and yang. This made my practice extra meaningful this morning.

@Kirby Mannon Sounds great. I’ll look forward to that.
Yin Yang Qigong (Weekly Qi 11.30.25)
Intention: I sense that "something more" means working through some of the Weekly Qi videos. Practice: I want to continue my focus on Yin and Yang Qigong so am alternating between those and whatever recent session pops up next. After: Going longer (30 min) after a month of 15-20 mins at a time definitely boosts the challenge. I'm loving it! I have a mostly desk job, and with that comes lots of tension in the muscles behind my shoulder blades. Almost every time I practice I feel some release in that tension. Question: What are some particular movements that address that tightness behind the shoulders? Perhaps I've already learned them?

PS I'm feeling like I'm finally getting the hang of Swirling Yin and Yang. It feels lovely!

@Kirby Mannon thanks
Weekly Qi 2.26.26
Intention: After a couple of weeks focussed on Yin and Yang Qigong, I wanted to try "something more" this morning. Practice: I warmed up with 10 min of Yin and Yang Qigong, then moved on to the Weekly Qi from Feb 26. After: I feel like I got some good exercise. I had to chuckle at Sonny's closing comment, "Sweating but not panting." The fact that I felt on the verge of some panting this morning reminds me that I have a long way to go on this journey.
