Intro & Goals
Hello from Toronto, Canada! I ran the Tokyo Marathon last month and haven't done much since then. With a fractured toe and strained hamstring, I'm hoping I'll be able to build muscle and strength to prevent future injuries. Especially as I approach turning 50. Goals: Drink 8 cups of water daily, train for 10km run, train for 92km bike ride, build 3% muscle/lean mass and walk 10,000 steps daily. - Start food logging, run/bike, focus on strength training 3 times a week. - 8 weeks...then re-strategize as summer approaches. - "I am worthy and I will achieve my goals as long as it takes".

@F L definitely, I think the hardest part is maintaining the routine and consistently.
Apples
Yes, @Darren Liu I took the challenge seriously 🤓🧐😂 Now I have tried several but still no Envy 🤔 I keep looking though.. And for the background.. we had many apple trees in my childhood home. There were always apples. After dinner, in between meals, at school outings.. 😒 And I got tired of them. Everyone always telling me "eat an apple" but for me? I got hungrier, I got tired of eating them as an healthy option.. and so on.. So for me now, eating one a day is a win 😅 The upside of this is that I now can enjoy apples again and willingly buy them. I always have something sweet at home and always eat, at least one, a day! I haven't tested the green ones and neither did I test all the swedish ones in comparison. But here is what I think of three of them.. 1. Royal Gala -juicy, sweet, crunchy and good size. Like them the most.. Downside: they age faster 2. Cosmic Crisp - crunchy, juicy but a bit sour. Remind me of a swedish apple I ate as a child.. bought them recently so I don't know the downsides yet. But I peel them because I think they have a thicker skin.. 3. Giga - also a bit sour but really crunchy. Bigger than the rest. Downside: I had to cut them in halfes because they are to big, as a snack or after dinner.

We have a few apple experts and I agree. Just had ENVY apples this morning with my coconut greek yogurt, hemp hearts and chia seeds. Cosmic Crisp and Honey Crisp are a household favourite!
Tracking Workouts
How are some of you tracking your workouts? Are you using a specific app? I’m currently using smart gym but some of the workouts I do are not in the app! So far it’s good but wondering what you all are using .. would love to check out other options. Please and thank you ☺️

I use Strava for tracking activity. A good central place to log your runs, rides, weight training.
Is it just me ?
Do you ever find yourself thinking you could go for a large bowl of your favourite chips ? Lately I’ve found myself thinking that more often. I never actually do it but I will have 1 or 2 chips sometime. I was being good and not buying any chips for a whole 2 weeks but last weekend I ended up buying 3 large bag from Costco. My son grabs large bowls of them and goes through a bag in a couple of days. Seeing him enjoy it makes me want some even more. What do you do when you can’t stop thinking about a food?

you had me at chips! there are a few "protein" chips out there which i haven't tried yet....my daughter loves "whisps" or parmesan chips....much pricier, but still very satisfying. I also tried making pepperoni chips in the oven...then dipping it into greek yogurt. Definitely helps with any type of crunchy craving....but nothing wrong w/some salt n'vinegar or ketchup chips either!
Day 3, the hardest..
Today I walked a red trail (aka a hard one). 12,08 km - 14900 steps in 2 and a half hours. The wind was so strong and the hills so steap on some places. BUT I DID IT!!!!! At first, the idea was to leave from the point were I left yesterday. But because of the wind I decided to walk the other way around and start were I was supposed to stop for today. So.. Todays startingpoint was in a village by the sea were they have nice restaurants at the harbour. We wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversery somewere nice, doing that before my walkes. The calories went out the window but I got the protein right! I thought I could decide after we had eaten, if I should take the chance and walk despite the wind. The sun was shining so.. But I say.. Sometime it is good not to know what lies ahead 😅 Now I am really proud of myself, and really happy that I did it! But I think I'll rest tomorrow. The weather is going to worsen, the wind will be even stronger then. And the trail is going to be similar but not as hard, with walks along the coastline.
