Welcome to Our New Members🌸
We’re delighted to welcome those who have recently joined the Rooted Alchemy community! Spring is a time of renewal, gentle growth, and new energy — a beautiful moment to begin or deepen your Tai Chi and Qigong journey. Please feel free to introduce yourself🌱 ✨ For our existing members — "What helps you stay consistent in your practice during busy weeks when you’ve just started your Tai Chi and Qigong journey?" I think for me, letting go of my own expectations was very helpful emotionally. It allowed me to create a space where I don’t "need to" do anything, but I "get to" do something. Even during the busiest moments, I can find five or ten minutes... sometimes even just two minutes to do grounding circles. It helps me reset and feel centered in a very short amount of time🙏 @Ronda McMann @June Chisholm @Marty Landry @Thomas Fraser @Pam Stecki @Sonia Welch @Nancy Hobbie-Lowe @Victor Marshall @Jan Palmer@Julie Greer @Michele McLeod @Rebeca Borbely @Robert Collins @Roi Weinstein @Brad Carroll @Madelein Cudina @Jack Benson @Carol Gray @Sarah Blue

Beginner's Mindset
I hadn’t practiced for a couple weeks. The other day @Jayda Jeon looked at me and said, “Let’s do Qigong.” And when Jayda says it’s time to do something… it’s time to do something lol. So we put on one of @Kirby Mannon YouTube videos and started moving through the practice. And honestly, it reminded me of something important. Even after practicing for a while, when you come back after a break you almost feel like a beginner again. The movements feel a little unfamiliar, your body has to remember the timing, the coordination, the rhythm. And that’s actually a really good place to be. Tai Chi and Qigong reward a beginner’s mindset. The moment we think we’ve “figured it out,” we stop noticing the small things that actually make the practice deeper. But when you come back with curiosity, patience, and a willingness to revisit the basics, the practice keeps opening up. Reading through everyone’s comments here, I noticed a lot of people sharing that overwhelmed beginner feeling in the first week. That’s completely normal. These arts are meant to be repeated. You can rewind. You can slow things down. You can return to the same movements again and again. The same simple movements reveal more over time. So if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed right now, you’re probably right where you’re supposed to be. The goal isn’t to master everything in seven days. The goal is just to start building familiarity with the feeling of the practice. Everything else unfolds gradually. Question for everyone: What helped you the most when you first started feeling overwhelmed in the beginning?

II find it a little difficult to fully describe the experience, but I practice daily and truly enjoy it. I’ve noticed real improvements in how I move, and I even find myself using the pony stance when picking things up. I’m also becoming more aware of the “empty and full” principle throughout the day. Sometimes Sonny’s quotes even come to mind during my practice. All of this has had a very positive effect on me. I feel better about myself and have developed a more positive outlook on life.

I am so enjoying the 7 Day Challenge. I'm a little (maybe a lot) overwhelmed with how much information there is and I'm thinking after a lot of exposure that feeling will lessen. Glad to have everyone here giving insight. Thank you!

@Michele McLeod It’s completely natural to feel a bit overwhelmed at first—there’s a lot of great information to take in during the 7 Day Challenge. The nice thing is that with time and continued practice, everything begins to settle in and make more sense. The supportive community here really helps with that too. Everyone sharing their insights and experiences makes the learning process much richer. Glad you’re here and part of the journey with us! 😊
