Heirloom question! Looking for advice
Hi All - As many of you know I am not just a watch junky but also a sentimental heirloom guy. I have my Great Grandfathers Elgin Pocket watch that I have been thinking about restoring myself and have been trying to learn watch repair. I have also been a big fan of the Vortic watch company in Fort Collins and have toured their facility. I have a watch on my list that I was planning on purchasing. Here is a good video of what they do. https://youtu.be/7Rgi2pLxw3Q?si=zImxLrP5k4KWOiTH So my question to the group. Should I just keep waiting and at some point restore or have the watch restored as is? Knowing that I will probably not use it as a pocket watch? or Should I contract with Vortic to take my Pocket watch and turn it into a wearable piece and I will keep the case in a display. I really love being in touch with those that came before me and I want to honor these pieces in a meaningful way. Below is my actual Pocket watch and a picture of a Vortic just to give you all some thoughts. Thoughts?

Tool watch Tuesday.
Ok, so what constitutes a tool watch? Any watch that withstands abuse? or a watch that has a chronograph?
