Today I’m wearing my Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary. Some watches get chosen carefully in the morning. This one just kind of calls your name. And when Snoopy calls…you answer. 😎 It's been a long time since I wore this one, as it doesn't come out very often but I do need to wind it and wear it so it stays in motion and doesn't dry out. This is one of those watches that is fun at first glance…and then gets much more interesting once you know the story behind it. The Speedmaster’s connection with NASA is obviously legendary. NASA formally qualified the Speedmaster for manned space missions in 1965, and it went on to become part of every Moon landing. But Snoopy has his own place in that history. NASA used Snoopy as a symbol of mission safety and outstanding achievement, and Omega received the Silver Snoopy Award from NASA in 1970 for its role during the Apollo 13 mission. That makes the little Snoopy sitting in the 9 o’clock subdial much more than just a playful cartoon character. He represents a very serious chapter in the Speedmaster story. And that contrast is probably what I like most about this watch. It has all the history and credibility of a Speedmaster, but then Omega allowed itself to have a little fun with it. The silver-white dial, deep blue bezel and subdials, blue fabric strap, and Snoopy graphic give it a completely different personality from a traditional Moonwatch. And then there’s the caseback animation — arguably the best part — where Snoopy travels around the Moon when the chronograph is activated. It’s complicated. Happy Tuesday Everyone!!

Happy Tool Watch Tuesday! One more searing day of high temps here (hopefully!) before things get a little more back to normal, so keeping it light again today with "Cassie", my Casio G-Shock Model DW5600-1V.
