Today I’m back in my anOrdain, and this dial is the reason why. anOrdain is rightly known for its enamel work, but what I keep coming back to with this watch is the texture underneath the color. At a quick glance, you see a beautiful burgundy dial and read the time. But when you actually stop and look at it — especially in direct sunlight — it becomes something completely different. The surface starts to reveal this almost grainy, layered texture beneath the enamel. The light moves across it, the color shifts from burgundy to plum to coppery brown, and suddenly the dial has a depth that just isn’t obvious indoors or in a quick wrist check. I think that’s what I enjoy so much about watches like this. They don’t give you everything at once. You can own one for a while, wear it regularly, and then the right bit of sunlight hits it and you notice something you somehow hadn’t really seen before. There’s something pretty special about that. Sometimes the fun isn’t just checking the time. It’s taking an extra few seconds to actually look at the watch. 😎
