What Is the Enneagram?
A quick tease for the weekend.
Many people think of the Enneagram as a personality typing system.
It can certainly help us understand our patterns, habits, motivations, and blind spots. But its deeper purpose is something more profound.
The Enneagram describes nine ways that human beings lose contact with their essential nature. Each type represents a particular way we forget or become disconnected from a fundamental quality of Being.
Our personality then develops as an attempt to navigate life from that perceived disconnection.
The good news is that what has been forgotten has not been lost.
By understanding our type structure and working compassionately with it, we can begin to loosen our identification with old patterns and rediscover the qualities that have always been present beneath our personality.
Over the coming weeks, I'll be sharing the Enneagram not simply as a system of personality types, but as a path toward greater awareness, freedom, and living from Essence.
