"How did you reach financial freedom so quickly?"
was a question I was asked today (it took me around four years to reach FIRE)
I answered poorly, so here's a better answer:
---
One of the lessons I learned from Stoicism was the importance of time.
There are two ways people waste time:
  1. Doing things that are obviously unproductive
  2. Doing things that they think are productive but are actually unproductive
Everyone knows 1 is bad. I wasn't perfect at this.
But 2 is the silent killer.
To reach any goal there is a Direct Path.
But, due to lack of wisdom, most people spend most of their time doing activities on the Indirect Path.
So they waste a lot of their time.
Early in my journey, I made a framework that to solve this problem.
It's called the GPS framework.
It has served me well. It hope it serves you well too.
---
Step 1: Goal
It's impossible to know what you should do until you know what you want.
Write down what you want.
Step 2: Problem
The Theory of Constraints understands that the reason you don't have what you want is because of a bottleneck.
There is a problem that, if solved, will help you get closer to the Goal.
Write down your Immediate Problem.
Step 3: Step 1
Stop thinking about Steps 2 - 100.
It's impossible to figure them out until you've done Step 1.
So start there. Take your first step.
Today.
---
Repeat until mission accomplished.
