If you heard one of the AMA'S I pointed out that I was contacting family and friends, that I knew that have written books. One of the areas I want to work in is book trailers. When I talk to them I explain what it is I want to do and also explain that if they like it they can use it. And I'll even give them the family and friends discount (Free). I want to use them as training for doing book trailers. And guess what happened, someone said yes. And then another thing happened. I sucked big time on my first recording. But I Just see the problem and work on fixing it and move on. This is that recording. I've been out of pocket for two days and haven't heard from her yet. But I will let you know.

This is a book the one of my cousins wrote. I asked he if I could do one for her. And kept turning it over and over in my head how I wanted to do it. I was looking to make the person who would by the book feel like they were the court and that they would be reading it like it was a court case. I think it goes a little long for a trailer. But I was trying to get the person hearing hooker on needing to read it.

If you haven't been on a few Ama's. One thing you'll miss. Seeing the smile on Earl's face as we talk among our self's. And him looking like a Dad siting back watching his kids interacting with each other. The more experience ones helping the younger ones. Or you don't see Earl thinking and working out something new to try. I should have labeled this one past and future AmA's. They don't just give out information, you get ideas, as well as friendship. And you might find your self moving faster in your journey. So Pop in one Saturday say hi and if that's all you want to do, sit back and sock it all in. Some are so hooked the log with their phones in while they are on the road. Just to hear what's going on.

Hi Guys, working on my Demo and wanted to try my next potential clip. I also included a dry read to listen for any noise in the background. Is my voice or music too loud? Too soft? Thoughts?

HEY EVERYONE I'm sitting here editing and I starting g thinking about how xan I help everyone in this journey. As you know I frequently say you edit with 👀 as well as 👂... so here are 2 things 1. Hit record in your DAW ( digital audio workstation) and record your breathing nosies , and mouth noises. Why ? Now you have a personal reference of what they look like . So when you look at your recording you can know what a breath, mouth click or pop and sibilance ( the strong s or c or harsh t sound) look like 2. All breathing is not bad , there are times when it's a part of your wprd and if you cut it then you may chop that part of a word. So my tip ( was taught to me but I use it daily) highlight that occurrence once you do goto your effect and use the fade in function ( I usually tap 2 times ] 3. You will find it fade the harshness out and makes the breathing or whatever sound error lighter, in alot of cases it will make it part of the sentence.. 4. Give a try and let me know how it works 4 you. 😊😊😊😊😊

Sorry guys, I've been out of pocket, got a face to face from my sister-law, to tell me that my youngest brother was in the emergency room having seizures. So it was all hands on deck for the last two days. They think they know now what was causing it. And he doing better so far, he should be in the hospital for the weekend. Fingers crossed, prayers, four leaf clovers, knock on wood are accepted.

At the AMA Session on Saturday, 3/25/23, Earl did a demonstration where he showed us how his expensive mic sounded with a blanket over his head and then how it sounded without a blanket over his head. The difference in reverb and echoing was very noticeable. The main problem where I record is the reverb created by my voice bouncing off my walls, floors, ceiling where I live. Audition's De-reverb feature wasn't working too well as although it was cutting out the reverb, it was also changing the volume on my voice too much after application. So after 4 years of my UNSUCCESSFULLY trying to create workarounds in post-editing, and based on the demonstration Earl did last Saturday showing how much putting a blanket over your head cuts out reverb, I FINALLY lol went out and got a blanket and found it cut the reverb so much! My audio editing went so much faster and my voice was so much clearer and I was a happy camper! Last Saturday Earl commented that people don't use the blankets when they need to for whatever reason really applied to me! lol That has been me for the last 4 years. I kept thinking I could fix it by tweaking something here or there in post editing. I am a Capricorn and we can sometimes be foolishly stubborn in our beliefs. lol. Because I can't add a whisperbox or add any acoustic panels or change anything on the floors or walls where I live, I will have to use a blanket until I can move to a new residence where I can alter the walls and floors and my sound space. (I won't be moving anytime soon as I am the caregiver for my 82 year old Mother recovering from cancer and doing chemotherapy, radiation, etc.) In the meantime, I will use the blanket over my head. I wanted to share this post today with all of you to implore and encourage you to NOT BE LIKE ME and avoid putting that blanket over your head if you need to for whatever reason and allow your audio sound to suffer. I did that for 4 long years and suffered from it, needlessly. I encourage anyone this issue might apply to....If you have reverb or echoing in your space, do WHATEVER you need to and can afford to do right now to fix that BEFORE wasting your time doing auditions or completing jobs that will have less audio quality than you would like and your beautiful voice deserves!

Hi everybody. I wanted to know if anyone has experience with backstage? If so what was it like. Have you had any consistency getting jobs there?

Hi. This is just info from a hard-learned lack of knowledge. If you are creating content, and we all are, even in your DAW - the way that you save files for both audio and visual can eat up the space on your hard drive very quickly. It might be an idea to purchase an external hard-drive with a couple of terabytes. Just a thought.

Never Judge your self where you are now, to others that are ahead of you. Because if you do, you'll always lose. Look at them now and ask how can I get there and then see if it works with where you want to go. And if it does then go for it.

Yesterday I received and email from a client whom I had sent a audition to. The platform shows if they listened ( which they did) and if they like they can shortlist you ( which on the platform they DID NOT). After the cordial greetings they mentioned that they had selected me as 1 of the 5 finalist for the job ( electric truck manufacturers). Their question was that they were pressed to meet deadline and if I was selected for the job would I be able to provide a turnaround by the end ( end of day) this was at 3pm est and their end was 7pm est. My response was ABSOLUTELY ( yes actual response all caps) . At 4 pm o recieced a response that they were going in another direction, but the representative stated that I was his choice. Would I mind if they added me to there personal list of vo artists as to avoid the hassles of searching ? Again I responded yes and thanked them for just being considered Your customer service , wether you do or don't get that job can determine your jobs in the future , and establish your reputation Just my 2 cents

Creating a good #voiceover demo is a challenge for many #voiceoverartist. A decade ago most #voiceactor would have never even attempted it. We were told to go and pay a “real professional” to get it done. A decade ago you would have spent upwards of $5K to get a 60-second commercial voice-over demo. I have said since the beginning of my career that 2 things would happen and people literally laughed at me. Now it has all come true. What I said over a decade ago was… The home studio would become huge and king Every voiceover artists needs to become something of an audio engineer Now when it comes to your demo. I want you to think about this. If a “professional demo maker” makes your demo and you put it out to the world then you are saying that you can produce that same exact sound. Could you? If you are just getting into voice over then you want to make sure that the demo that you put out there is completely reflective of what you can produce. Now, this process of demo creation is simple but not easy. But I am firm on my stance that you should be able to produce your own commercial voice-over demo. You can learn to do this and I will show you how. What we will do is… 🚀 Come up with an original script written just for you 🚀 5-8 scripts that can show your range and talent 🚀 I will help you do your professional read so that it is spot on 🚀 Together we will edit and master that demo All of this will be recorded just for you on video using your DAW so that you can always refer to it to create great audio every time. I truly want you to get over this hump of creating your demo and lose the fear of it now sounding right. The total process of us working together to… 🚀 Come up with an original script written just for you 🚀 5-8 scripts that can show your range and talent 🚀 I will help you do your professional read so that it is spot on 🚀 Together we will edit and master that demo All of this will be recorded just for you on video using your DAW so that you can always refer to it to create great audio every time.

Talk about an extra NOISY day! Here in good ole California, we had rain and more rain, and more rain. So much rain this particular day, I lost out on 3 auditions. Because of the intensity of the wind and rain, it was next to impossible to process out the added noise. There was still some noise going on in the background after several attempts. As submission time was ending, I threw in the towel. So now I'm challenged once again to find further methods for processing audio in adverse situations. Next time I'll be better prepared. I live fight and grow another day. GADQ
