MOVING FORWARD!
I'm excited and yet saddened. This particular forum will be ending very soon. Call it the end of the beginning if you will. Quite a few things were shared between all of us. The main goal of course is conquering the things that hold us back and embracing the future with nervous excitement and expectation for what is to come. I appreciate having ya'll around and listening to the good, bad, ugly...but never quitting. It's all inspirational. I can't wait to see the progress we make together and individually. Thanks Earl, Mike, and ALL! GADQ

AmA's
Today was the last AmA with Earl. Two things. One you will never really know how much you effect a person. Even when you tell them, Earl in the short time I've been with him and the group. I have done more in the short time I've been with him. There aren't enough words in the English language to express the thanks for helping me move forward with my career....Business as a voice over artiest. And two he as said somethings that will be like a hard kick in your stomach. But sometimes you need that person in your life who can tell you what you need to hear so you can move on to do what you really want to do. This was the last one with him, because like the saying goes, he's work was done and it's time to move on. and we will follow him as we work om our own journeys. And he'll be right there look over our shoulders. And whispering a fine point or two. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE. AND AS ALWAYS YOU KNOW IF YOU NEED ANY OF US WE HAVE YOUR BACK .😊

Got Mouth Noise?
Got this message from Marc Cashman regarding solution to mouth noise. Just sharing in case someone else may be vexed with this problem. The answer is very simple. Somehow in the passage of time, I forgot to breath. GADQ! Marc Cashman Mitigating mouth noise is simply a process of breathing through your phrases. The moment you stop the air flow is when mouth noise occurs. If you're mindful of breathing through phrases, you'll virtually eliminate mouth sounds. Add a noise gate in post and you'll have cut down on your editing time significantly.

My vexation! Besides mouth noise, it's interesting the things one can hear just from yourself. I recall knuckles or bones cracking, swallowing, stomach noises, clothing, hitting my music stand accidentally, or even foot(or feet) movement.🤫
Coaches
Since I started learning voice over work. I've had three coaches, The first one passed a few years back. But when I was working with her she was going strong at 80 plus years old. The second one who I worked with the longest. Just closed his studio a few months back. I still see and chat with him on Face book. The third one I asked when was he coming to Houston. And a month later he announced he was coming to Dallas. I even paid him to make my Demo. I still have his number and see him on my Face book page as well. But we haven't said a word to each other in years. They all have their strong points that I picked up and still use today. But I hadn't done much until I ran across Earl's videos, I can't remember which one that started me thinking it's time to get back to work. And for the most part it's not impotent which one it was. One of them spoke to me and next thing I know I found myself in the hunt to work and lost in the weeds but looking to win. Earl has something my three other coaches didn't have. And that is a message that if you fight to win you will win. And now he's set up a small group of us to follow in his foot steps to win. This is not the end, but a beginning for those who want it. Like I said I can never take anything away from the other coaches. But Earl stand out from them.

Earl stands out. He makes blatantly clear about the things that hold us back as well as reasons to move forward. He's also a bit of a rebel because he went against the grain and made it successfully!
Idea
Here's something some of you may already know. I'm looking to do a video podcast. Mainly about people in the group. I'm looking to prerecord us talking to each other talking about what you were doing before working in voice over. What are you working on know. How and were can people find you if they would like you to work on a prefect they have. Those are the main three things I would like to get out there. Who you are. What you can do. (here you might want to have a clip of you're latest project. Earl pointed out where you shouldn't look for people betting your door down in a week. But long term you might get some one calling you. This is a marathon and this will be playing every time all the time on the net. And we want to let them see us over and over again. That's phase one, Phase two is to make them into shorts. Shorts get plaid more then whole podcast so they get seen more often. And again the more often we are seen the more often we get talked about. If you saw the AmA from 4/08/23. I pointed out a man named Mattress Max. He owns a store in Houston called Gallery furniture. He's also one of the richest men in Texas. Why was I talking about him? Well you have to looking a the AmA to see. But I also heard him speak to HISD Teachers. Were He told his story ( That's for later). But in it he talk about a man in his town who everyone called the tire man, because were ever he went he Wore a tire around him. And ever one laughed at him. But when the needed a tire... Who do you think they thought of. And where do you think they all got their tires from. That's right, the tire man. And Mattress took that Idea and were ever he goes you see Gallery Furniture, on his Benz his 100plus K cigar speed boat. He's got kidd's that are more then likely out of collage. And where do you think they went? Any where they wanted to, because money was no object. I've never seen him in anything but a Gallery Furniture T shirt. And for the thirty years I lived in Houston other Furniture's popped up trying the same thing. I only know of one who made it. So guess what my plan is copy Earl and get us out there before some else does.

At one of the AmA's Earl talked about finding work in your area. Talk to people and tell them what you do. Go to small business gatherings and talk to other business owners (My learned experience) and then about your voice over business. Not comfortable with that one cousin Who I found out about through Ancestry co Wrote a book. Talked to her offered to do a trailer for her for free and explained how for me it would be practice. But for her I would post it on Face book ( free advertisement for her), before I finished she e-mailed me a photo of the back of her book. Next person was my sister-in- law. Her sister wrote and published a book. I couldn't get a hold of her. So I talked to my sister-in- law Short answer is I've put the finishing touch on it and will be posting It on my Face book page. Why on my page? I'm starting there and show ceasing my work. But if she contacts me and ask to put it on her page or where ever. I'm still show casing my work and Face book you'll see Adds for promoting books. I'm doing the same thing but I'm showing my work not just asking who wants to have their book promoted. And the last one is I called a long time friend with the idea of doing a comical promo for his business. while talking to him, he stopped me and then put us on a three way call with someone he works with. And bingo! I got my first paying gag. So why did I title this discovering? Because I discovered I like hunting for work. And with that thought I'm am looking at one old hunting ground, Email production companies and letting them know I'm here right in their back yard. And the pay to play web sights. I've also discovered that it's not busy work, and for some they might think is hunting for small game. I'll take a dozen small game while looking for the big one.

Last 2 Live AMA's
Hello everyone. If you have never been to a live AMA that I do every Saturday at 1pm EST you don't want to miss what is coming in these last two sessions we have before the close of this community on May 22nd. I mentioned this in our last AMA session that this group would be going away as I am building and pursuing my dreams and goals. Of course the website www.stepstovoiceoversuccess.com will continue to be there for all of you training needs with its courses and 1-on-1 sessions with me. I am excited to see people in this group step up and become leaders. This is one of my greatest joys! Many of you know about my brand new show launching on May 25th called The Earl Hall Show. I am excited about interviewing some of you even on that show. There are a lot of great things happening and I am excited about this next chapter for me and Earl Hall Studio LLC. Let us all continue to #grindanddontquit - Earl

Yessir! 9-5 can be life vacuum. Keep in mind it only takes what we give it. I have to remind myself too often. Sometimes we'll have set down temporarily. Some necessities of life require that. Do know when to come back and re-engage your dream. GADQ!
AMA 5/6/23...Some major points in this session:
Defining entrepreneurship is taking specific action not caring what people say or think. Don't withhold your talents. Not letting fear grip you. Re-assessing wants vs. needs in your VO pursuit. You may have them backwards. A rumbling belly is the best motivator. Pay the short list minimal attention. Be the first to audition. Pay attention to ethnic roles for auditioning. Stay diligent. Lighten up and play. Go outside the performance box. How hungry are you? Only execution matters. A salary is a drug they give to you forget your dreams. Plan your work and work your plan. GADQ!!!

Question?
Where I live down here in deep south Texas. You still have power outages and wifi outages. Friday was one of them. Power way out and wifi was out as well. So the question is what do you do if it hits you on the very day you have a project due? The power outage is an easy fix, buy an large external battery that last say for 4 hours. Now the wifi. That's a toughy. I have that happen to me when Houston got hit by a Hurricane, I went to the nearest hospital or I could have gone to a fire house or police station, and was going to use their electricity. all three have back up generations. But here all three are too far for me to go to. And I don't drive anymore by chose. And I think wifi towers have their own back up power. ( as long and the don't get knocked down.) Any ideas?

I hope through all of that, you're in good health Bill. Question though...do you think Satellite vs Cable service would make any difference If power is not big issue? Attempting to use your phone as a hot spot is a great idea!

Earl I must say that once again you've done it. Breaking through another barrier. Congrats!!! I remember the YouTube vid from not too long ago. You were very open with the viewers about moving in another direction. You were nearly in tears...and mannnnn I was feelin' it. It was intense for me to think you leaving VO, let alone just to see you in such a candid way with your audience. I was praying for you! And now down the road to today! What things you have accomplished! GADQ my friend!
