Book Awards - What Other Questions Do You Have?
HAPPY 250th America!! 🇺🇲 By request ... I am going to prep a video on how to assess whether a book award is worth your time/effort/money. When I do that video ... what other things would you like me to cover beyond what is in this video?
Top 10 Contributors for June! Thank you.
Thank you to everyone for participating in the community. It would not be a community without you! :) To change it up this month, I took the top 10 contributors and spun them in a randomized wheel. Watch the video to see if you won!! 🏆 If you're one of the 3 selected this month please email @Angela Jones at team@booklaunchers.com and she'll hook you up with some swag from her closet or a digital prize if you're not in the US. :)

It’s been a minute since I’ve been here.
I thought my first book was ready months ago. But as Bullwinkle says, “this time for sure.” "Flawless Ketovore,” intended to be short, is now 58 pages and very clean with all illustrations. The cover is attached, should you wish to comment. I plan to set the price at $10 and offer a 50, 55 or 60 percent discount to booksellers. Ingram’s calculator says I get to keep $2.55, 2.05 or 1.55 per copy sold through their distribution. I’ll probably go with 60, unless someone convinces me I am an idiot. I plan to put out the paperback, hardcover, kindle and audio versions and website during July. My second book, "Our Universe,” is also 58 pages and very readable. I will do a bit more trimming then add things back until I hit 60 pages. Hopefully, this is out in August. One thing that delayed progress was working on my screenplay "16 Weeks to Love.” It finally earned a “recommend" from coverage services. See you'll at the Summit.
Barnes & Noble
Does anyone have experience selling with Barnes & Noble? My editor has a clause in his publishing contract that states they destroy books and charge back revenue to the author and publisher if they don’t sell. This seems wild to imagine. Seeking insight on what others have experienced. Thank you!! 🙏🏽
The "invisible" detail that kills a great book launch (and how to spot it)
Hey Lab members! I’ve been deep in the self-publishing space for a minute now, and if there’s one thing I’ve noticed, it’s that a great manuscript can easily get buried if the technical foundation is off. We focus so much on the writing, but the roadblocks that usually stall our momentum tend to be: Interior architecture that doesn't match reader expectations. KDP SEO that targets the wrong metadata, making the book invisible. Compliance oversights that accidentally trigger KDP warnings. When these pieces don't align, even the best launch strategy can fall flat. If you’re currently preparing a manuscript or launching soon, which of these technical pieces feels like the biggest guessing game for you right now? Drop your thoughts below, let's talk strategy!
