You Shouldn’t Look for the Easy Way…
Too many people want to skip the hard part. You don't realize it… …because you lack perspective… That the hard part is where everything valuable comes from. All the skills. All the confidence. All the vision. All the toughness. All the understanding. All the things you will ever value in your life likely started or will be developed by the hard parts of the journey. You shouldn't want anything fast or easy. Start being grateful for the fruit the hard times produce and value the journey for what you are gaining. Everything worthwhile in your life that you will be proud of… All of the real shit that matters comes from these times. Stop trying to hack your way around them. Stop looking for the fast & easy way. 7/5/2026 Sunday Worship Then Shamrock Club Meeting
So day we both wore variations on Satyrday’s outfits. Robin wore the same white blouse with the red and blue stars and red, white and blue bat but switched yesterday,s skirt for a pair of red capris. I wore the same light khaki linen trousers and blue blad jacket but switched ro white linen shirt instead of the blue, chose a navy ascot instead of the red scarf, switched to the blue fedora from the blue linen flatcap and finally put on burgundy double monks instead of the saddle shoes.

…to do my duty to God and my country…
Naturally the troop for which I am the Troop Chaplain did the presentation of colors today at church on the Sunday following the United States’ 250th anniversary. Typically I wear my scout uniform on the day of flag presentations but as I had nothing required today, I went with my navy blazer with Boy Scout blazer buttons. To keep the patriotic theme I grabbed a bright red 1982 RL tie and a red silk pocket square, a white on white herringbone CT shirt, and I borrowed a pair of RL white red and blue braces from my wife. I grabbed a pair of MTM deep charcoal grey Calvary Twill trousers, a deep red pair of cashmere socks and my 1982 Alden Shell Cordovan tassels. One of the things I remind my scouts is that every single week they recite an oath that begins with duty to God and then recite the 12 Scout laws that end with “a Scout is Reverent”. Always pleased to see them provide this service to the church and community.
