The Coat I Never Forgot
Good afternoon, gentlemen. Fourteen years ago, when I was 14, I had a dark grey, double-breasted, military-style wool overcoat from H&M. It matched my style before I even knew what my style was. I wore it until the puppy-fat years made the fit… ambitious — and eventually it went to charity. Last week I decided to go looking for it. Not just any coat — that coat. After some hunting, I actually found the same model second-hand: same cut, same attitude, just finally in a size that fits a grown man. I’m giving it its first proper outing tonight for a mate’s birthday in London: grey herringbone waistcoat with matching trousers, brown Thursday wingtip boots, and my metal Armani watch. Feels good bringing a piece of my younger self forward into the present — only sharper this time.

Leather, Wool and Whisky
Good evening!! I’ve just got back from my trip around the Scottish Highlands, where I’ve been exploring some incredible distilleries. On this trip through the Scottish Highlands, my Master Supply Co Convoy leather jacket did exactly what I needed it to. Paired with a thick cable-knit jumper and sturdy black zip-up boots, it handled everything from the cold winds by the River Spey, to keeping me warm in our private carriage on the stunning Strathspey Railway. A couple of weeks ago, I posted about going 2 months without a drink. My first dram marked 10 weeks and it became about rediscovering a passion and learning the art of whisky making. I’ve learned to enjoy alcohol in a healthier way. I don’t want to down pint after pint anymore — I’d rather enjoy something well-made, and actually taste it. As for the scenery? I could describe it, but they say pictures tell a thousand words.

@Aran Ewens I actually did think about that, but unfortunately I didn’t. I might look online though to see if I can place an order from some of the shops I visited though.

Overcoat search
Good evening! Now the weather is turning colder, I’d love to invest in a great overcoat which I can wear over a suit or even just a nice shirt and pair of trousers. Even better if it can be paired with a pair of dark jeans. I like the style of the Peaky Blinders overcoat, and I’m open to a military style too, but a lot of the brands I’m finding seem a little obscure and prices seem deceptively low, so I can’t be certain on overall quality. What brands can you recommend? My budget is anything under £250.

@Trevor Hudson I’ve been having a look today and there’s some great options out there. I’m starting to come round to the idea of buying something in store so I can see it in real life first. I’m looking at Hawk & Bull at the moment. Some expensive coats on there though.

@Trevor Hudson that’s a great point. Good advice!
2 months without a drink
Two months without alcohol — and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my mental health. The turning point came the morning I nearly cancelled plans to finally meet my celebrity crush at a Comic Con in London, Danielle Campbell - The Originals. I’d had a few drinks the night before (4 beers, 2 red wines, 2 Old Fashioned’s and Tequila Rose), woke up foggy, anxious, and very nearly talked myself out of going. I pushed through, had breakfast and plenty of tea — it turned out to be an amazing day. But it also opened my eyes to how much alcohol had been quietly draining me: my energy, confidence, and focus. The very next day, I signed up to BetterHelp and started working on myself properly — mentally, physically, and emotionally. Since then, the changes have been huge. My gym training’s consistent, my motivation’s back, and I’m finally building myself up again. I’m not cutting alcohol out of my life completely — I’m going to Scotland for a whisky tour in 2 weeks, which I’m super excited for, but my relationship with it has changed. These past two months have been about getting clarity back, both in my head and in my habits. It honestly feels so good to be back in control of my lifestyle again - I’ve even taken up yoga! Curious if any of you guys have gone through something similar — what changes did you notice when you cut back or quit drinking? Of course, I couldn’t post without sharing a photo from the day where I’m trying to act cool, but I’m actually more nervous than I’d ever been!

@Warner Smith that’s impressive. Did it start off as, “I’m no longer drinking”, or was it more like, “I’m just not going to drink today.”?

@Bernie Henesy 9 weeks tomorrow! 💪🏻
Too long?
Hey guys I need your opinion. I have this button down that I feel might be a bit too long, but I wanted your opinion on how you guys see it. I am 6'5", and normally wear a 2XL, and this is a 2XL tall, but I feel that it's just a little bit too long. The sleeves I can roll up and hide that, but I feel the bottom of the shirt is too long, what are you guys think? I've always had problems finding shirts that are the correct length they're either too short or too long. I could have it tailored, but I don't know if it's worth it. Appreciate any input, thanks.

Hey Damien, I agree this is too long. Ideally if it’s being kept untucked then it should come up mid fly. If you can get it altered then I would.
