I am happy to see that both the new leader and my office admin are onboard with the plan to provide our admin with dedicated oversight from an accounting expert and someone who has the time and experience to train new employees on work culture in a professional organization (vs. an academic work environment). Another Thursday, another opportunity to be intentional about how I show up. But to be honest, the days of the week really don’t matter. Being intentional is an everyday thing — today just happens to be Thursday! 😎 Today is warm and humid here in Greenvale, with thunderstorms expected later, so I wanted something light, comfortable and appropriate for an August office day without losing the sense of polish that matters to me. Light trousers, a crisp white shirt, brown shoes, coordinating belt and socks, and the Panama for when I’m outside. Nothing complicated. But none of it is accidental either. That is probably the common thread running through most of the things I do. I enjoy taking the time to think about the details — not because every detail needs to be noticed by somebody else, but because I notice them. For me, intentionality is really about deciding what my standards are and then trying to live by them consistently. And underneath all of that is gratitude. I am grateful that I get to wake up each morning, go to work, spend time with the people I care about, continue learning, and still find enjoyment in something as simple as choosing what I’m going to wear that day. I never want those ordinary days to become so ordinary that I stop appreciating them. So today’s outfit is relatively simple. But the mindset behind it isn’t. Be intentional. Be grateful. And make the most of the day you’ve been given. 😎
