More open quarters? How to achieve them?
I hope you aren't tired of my "asking for bespoke advice" topics yet. 😉 The final issue for my bespoke suit for now is the openness of the quarters. I wanted them more open to elongate my leg line as much as I can. The tailor already made them a bit more open since the previous fitting. However, I'm under the impression that it's still not enough. So the tailor tried pulling the quarters more open. You can see the "before and after" photos below for comparison between the current and possibly even more open angle. What do you guys think? I'm also under the impression that it's not just about the angle of quarters, but also their shape (which the tailor hasn't modified so far). These quarters are still a bit "square", instead of having their corners more rounded (more "cutaway") like in Italian jackets. (See third photo for an example of very open and rounded quarters to illustrate what I mean.) Do you agree? At this point, would you increase the openness angle, quarter shape, both, or perhaps neither?

…to do my duty to God and my country…
Naturally the troop for which I am the Troop Chaplain did the presentation of colors today at church on the Sunday following the United States’ 250th anniversary. Typically I wear my scout uniform on the day of flag presentations but as I had nothing required today, I went with my navy blazer with Boy Scout blazer buttons. To keep the patriotic theme I grabbed a bright red 1982 RL tie and a red silk pocket square, a white on white herringbone CT shirt, and I borrowed a pair of RL white red and blue braces from my wife. I grabbed a pair of MTM deep charcoal grey Calvary Twill trousers, a deep red pair of cashmere socks and my 1982 Alden Shell Cordovan tassels. One of the things I remind my scouts is that every single week they recite an oath that begins with duty to God and then recite the 12 Scout laws that end with “a Scout is Reverent”. Always pleased to see them provide this service to the church and community.

One of my client’s lost her 88 year old mother in a car accident. I chose to go with a medium grey MTM suit and a black belt, black OTC socks, black shoes and a black band on my 1940’s Bulova. While I am at the age where funerals have become much more common, tragedy’s such as these are even more sad for family’s.
