Shoe Shining and Fans 👞🪭✨
Knowing that the cleaning and conditioning cream, along with the wet dye/polish, takes so long to dry, I’ve decided to utilize an extra fan. Also, try applying the cleaner to your belts, too. Thank you, gentlemen, for the outstanding feedback on all of the posts I’ve made on this topic.

Smart Casual Attire for Dinner
I had dinner with two old Army friends tonight on Broadway in Columbus, Georgia. Now, I knew they were going to dress casually, so I slightly leveled up to smart casual. I nearly wore my darker jeans, but the leather brown belt and shoes fit the mood and work better with the medium denim.

Ironing Troubles
I own two long-sleeve and three short-sleeve casual shirts from DXL: True Nation. Now I enjoy these styles, colors, and brands. I would buy another True Nation shirt if it met my fancy. I’d recommend these types of shirts to anyone. My conundrum is how difficult they are to iron. The problem is that the fabric is made of a tougher linen-cotton blend. So, as much as one doesn't want a dry cleaning bill for a handful of shirts, am I missing any ironing tips? They are always washed in cold water and never put in the dryer. Perhaps my old Army NCOs were right, and I suck at ironing my BDUs and DCUs, lol?

Are You Understood?
Good afternoon gentlemen, You are given the task to lead a team for a project that your company is doing, and you work on a presentation for the team. You make your presentation, and you feel that no one was listening or even cared about what you presented. Do you feel like the people that you are working with do not respect you? Do you fell that they are just jealous because the task was given you and not them? This is something that happens all to often, the problem is not always them, or the fact that they don’t like you, or even jealous of you. Because, the truth be known, they are all probably glad that you got picked for that task and not them. So why are they acting like they do not respect you? Because it could be that they did not understand what you were relaying to the team. Sometimes we feel that in order to be a leader or to be respected that we have to use big words, or technical language in order to be respected or be important. And the reality is, this is further from the truth. It is not that they do not like you, they cannot understand what you are saying for them to even respect you. When we fail to adjust to the audience that we are engaging we loose that communication with them, and at that point their minds start to wander when is lunch, where are they going to go for lunch, what are they going to do this weekend. Why because the moment you started using big words; or technical language beyond what they understand, they allow their minds to wander to something that brings them happiness and peace. One of the greatest attributes that a gentleman can possess, is the ability to know the audience that are he is addressing. Having the ability to do this gives the right information, to the right people, in a manner that they can relate, understand, and respond. And this is not for just at work, but even when meeting new people, or talking to people in passing and you start having conversations with. When we start using big words to try to impress people, or words they cannot relate to; you close yourself off to them, you be come unapproachable. This is when they start finding somewhere else to be either physically or mentally. Point being they will make a way to distance themselves from you one way or another.

@Anthony Buntyn I completely understand your frustration. Since I live in Georgia, I volunteer as a political writer in my local community. When writing an editorial with an academic language or concepts that I don’t believe are highly elevated, but some citizens do. For instance, in my current edition, I use a line from Shakespeare’s Richard III and a few phrases from Charles Dickens’ book David Copperfield. Now, my wife says that no one in the audience will understand what an “Arrant Kanave” is or what “Bolderdash” means, besides yourself and 3-5 other people. But, I say, why talk down to your audience? Challenge one’s vocabulary while still keeping the group’s level in mind. The great historical writer, David McCullough, constantly said, “Writing isn’t difficult when you’re clearly thinking. Editing and rewriting are where one’s frustration and clarity of understanding are challenged.” Sometimes less is more. God Bless You, Doc. Try Grammarly, too. Minutia day today. Figuring out formatting for regulatory submissions while cleaning up our financial reporting processes to make sure projects are easily tracked and categorized. As a statistician, I enjoy the organizational part. As a human, some of these minutia make me to want to pull out my eyeballs. To inject some fun into the day, here's the outfit as written by a sartorial pirate (thanks Co-Pilot) 🏴‍☠️ Today’s RMRS Outfit Log — Written by a Gentleman Pirate • Shirt — DS‑040 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A crisp white non‑iron twill dress shirt with French cuffs, cut slim and clean as a freshly swabbed deck. The classic point collar stands tall beneath the rigging, giving proper support to a bold silk tie and polished silver cufflinks. • Undershirt — US‑002 (Ralph Lauren): A plain white cotton crew that stays hidden like treasure in the hold. Soft, breathable, and keeps the main sail smooth through a long day at sea—or the boardroom. • Slacks — SL‑008 (Santorelli): Khaki wool slacks in a basket weave, draping easy and steady like calm waters off Tortuga. Tailored just right, they balance formality with comfort, fit for commanding the ship or the meeting. • Tie — NT‑045 (Silvio Fiorello): The Mandala of the Universe silk tie in forest and malachite green, touched with rust and crème—rich as a pirate king’s banner. Hand‑rolled and low sheen, it brings learned mysticism and quiet authority to the ensemble. • Belt — B‑012 (Wolksprong): A stout brown leather work belt with a solid brass buckle, built like a ship’s gunwale and twice as trustworthy. It cinches the rigging firm and true, addin’ a touch of rugged authority—aye, the kind that says this captain’s seen rough seas and still stands straight at the helm. • Vest — VWC‑008 (Hisdern): A light maroon windowpane vest that adds daring color and layered depth, like a captain’s coat beneath the frock. Worn boldly without a jacket, it signals confidence earned, not borrowed. • Footwear — DSh‑008 (Thursday Boots): Cinnamon‑brown double monk straps in supple leather, fastened with brass buckles fit for a gentleman corsair. Formal enough for parley, rakish enough for a quick escape.
