Some times it hits you!
Went into my closet to decide what I wanted to wear, and I saw my chocolate brown trousers and said THIS! I enjoy being intentional about how I choose things and how I build off whatever is hitting me that day! I built the outfit out of that. OOTD: Blue/White Window Pane Dress shirt Chocolate Brown trousers Chocolate Brown with navy shadow stripe OTC dress socks Brown Split toes derby's with matching belt. Wishing you all a wonderful day!!

Blue Intentionality
I chose a blue basket weave Oxford shirt and built my outfit from there. Blue is the most versatile shirt color hands down, after that comes white and after that comes pink. With these three colors one’s wardrobe choices are virtually endless. The suit I wore is a fancy stripe with a warp and weave of charcoal brown and light grey which reads beige from a distance. I had this suit made in 1996. I also commissioned the Allen Edmonds shell cordovan brogues in a Brittish tan color when I ordered this suit. I was very intentional in ‘95 and ‘96 having made three suits in those two years. One was the medium grey suit I wore last week with a yellow tie, the other one is a true navy herringbone I wore to a gala a couple of weeks ago. These thirty-plus year-old suits have served me very well in many ways since the styling is perpetual: 3/2 buttoned coat, the dart-less single vent and the double forward pleated and cuffed trousers. Not only is the styling classic but the colors are as well. Since I already owned the most versatile color of suit one can own- an off the rack charcoal grey Southwick suit which I still have, and once I settle in on weight and dimensions will have the moth holes rewoven, in the 1990’s, I decided to complete my suit wardrobe with the medium grey suit, and then the navy followed and then one year later the basic wardrobe was completed by the tanish color (the suit I have on today). The point of all of this is to prove how, while expensive at the time, these colors and style choices were very intentional and have served me very well for a long time. Color harmonizing
I have spoken multiple times about the three basic conservative shirt colors: Blue, White, Pink. These three colors are virtually interchangeable with various outfits and have been the three essential staple classic colors for nearly 100 years. Nevertheless- each harmonizes differently with their overall outfit. For example- while white is a very basic color it can be a bit stark in certain situations where a blue or pink are less so. Conversely nothing brings out the crispness and formality of a deep navy or deep charcoal suit like a white shirt. Today I want to break out the most recent MTM suit I had made January 2014. Unfortunately I had gained a lot of weight by then so I am not sure it is salvageable with my tailor. We shall see later this fall. The other thing about the suit that bothers me is that in 2014 I let the clothier talk me into a single reverse pleat (he was pushing me toward a plain front which I would have never done in a MTM). I wished that I held my ground but life is a learning process isn’t it. Irrespective, I do like the fabric. It’s an extremely light weight woolen blend in a deep charcoal brown with a ghosted Glen plaid with operable sleeve buttons. I added a French cuff pink twill CT shirt and a teal and black woven houndstooth silk Robert Talbot tie with burgundy and beige amoeba woven patterns. I chose my shamrock cufflinks and flyfishing fly braces and reversible pocket square coordinating the beige in the tie, along with my Panterella OTC socks and AE shell cordovan brogues and my Caravelle/Bulova watch.
