Etsy IOSS Number

I assume that we don't need to do anything with the Etsy IOSS Number that is given when we make a sale to a European company, as this seems to me to suggest it should be on a package being sent from the UK to an EU company, but as it is printed and shipped from abroad, then no need to worry??

This is the second time I have been given this, first time I did nothing and got no feedback from the buyer so assumed everything was OK?

But thought I would check on here, see if anyone else has had any issue with this?
