First full month
My first full month selling prints and I’m over the moon with the results. If you’re thinking of starting, do it do it do it!! I quit my job a couple of months ago to look after my toddler full time, a scary decision and I didn’t think I’d be able to earn money for myself again until she went to school. I started seeing PrintShrimps videos and just HAD to give it a go. I used to have an Etsy shop 5 years ago selling art prints that I was having to print and package myself, it was fun to start with but the novelty very quickly wore off due to the pressure of delivering high quality prints myself. Thank you PrintShrimp for allowing me to have some financial independence whilst also enjoying every day with my daughter.

Mixing physical with digital
Hi guys. After a bit of advice please. I’ve been running a digital print shop on Etsy for many years. Selling in 5 ratio sizes for customers to print themselves. I’d like to start offering physical prints too. Do you think it’s a good or bad idea to sell both in the same shop? Or will it just confuse my customers?

Is the anti AI backlash affecting your Etsy shop?
I’m curious to hear how other Etsy sellers who use AI as part of their creative process are finding things at the moment. I recently received my first ever 1 star review from a customer who purchased from my shop and then said they wouldn’t support my work because AI was involved. I completely understand that AI isn’t for everyone and people have strong opinions about it, but I’m transparent about my use of AI in multiple places throughout my Etsy shop. I’ve also been trying to grow my business through social media, but I’ve noticed quite a lot of backlash there too. I use tools such as Midjourney and ChatGPT as part of my process, and it feels like the anti AI sentiment has become particularly strong recently. Is anyone else who uses AI in their Etsy business experiencing something similar? Have you noticed it affecting your reviews, social media engagement, sales, or reputation ?

Its interesting discussion. I have seen comments on Etsy from customers who purchased work described to be William Morris, where the reality is its an AI interpretation of something new in a William Morris style....and I get her negative comments without true descriptions on this listing. I also think to produce good quality AI images, does take creative talent. Reworked pieces and sometimes very creative prompts. But being a non digital artist is hard work - both in producing work quickly and finding people to buy and like it, When the creative space has exploded with AI Art it probably does feel like hard work wading through it for buyers. There is also a lot of snobbery about AI Art. Which is a shame because its such a wonderful tools and goes beyond generating mass uploads. But art is always subjective - I look at some Etsy posters and I think who on earth is buying this crap! I think stand behind what you produce, share your process and let the customer decide what is Art and what is not. Hopefully they can then stand by their choice Ai or not !
