One great way that we can release emotions is through being mindful of our emotions, and our thoughts and we can do this through journaling.
At the end of the day, or as needed, you can write down what you struggled with, what thoughts popped up in your head, what emotions through you off, and dump it all out.
You can write down experiences you had. Certain people that bothered you, made you feel small, upset you, offended you, etc. Whatever emotion they caused to pop up, you can write about the person, what they said, the way the made you feel, and the situation that occurred. This is a great way to UNLOAD the emotions so that you don't end up burying them in your body.
Journaling is a great way to become aware of your thoughts and feelings, aware of the way certain people affect you in your day to day life, and a great way to unload negativity that won't hurt anyone else. (Just make sure no one can read it!!)
If I am using it to vent my emotions about a person, I like to do so on a loose leaf paper that I can then destroy afterwards.
This is called the Write and Burn Method. Write down the negative emotions and then rip, burn, drown, throw away, cut up into a million pieces, which ever way is most satisfying to you... Destroy it!
When you go through the act of physically destroying these negative emotions it actually helps you release them, and it ensures that no other eyes will ever read them.
Journaling can also help organize your thoughts, and create order in your mind if you are feeling chaotic. It can help you remember things, keep track of things, and create new ideas.
Journaling is by far one of my favorite and most effective ways of working out the thoughts in my head and the feelings in my heart.
Have you ever tried any journaling? How does it help you?
