[Emotional Release Techniques] Letters To God
One wonderful way I love to release emotions and, most especially, receive inspiration, is through writing Letters To God.
I have found that if I am struggling with a deep emotional wound, or a relationship problem, there is no better source than for me to turn to than to God himself.
He is the Healer of all sorrows, pains, afflictions, trials and tribulations. There is nothing that we have suffered that He has not already suffered for us.
And if we humbly and sincerely seek his Wisdom, Guidance, and Counsel, He will be there to give it.
I start off by writing in a letter format to God...
Dear Father in Heaven,
and then I tell him the things that are weighing on me, and the things that I would like His help with. I relay to him every detail and I ask Him specific questions. When I write to Him I am sincerely seeking an answer to my questions, a solution for my dilemma. When I approach Him in this way, I have found that He has always answered me.
I love to write Him letters when I am lost and need direction in my life, when I am confused and don't know where to focus, when I feel unwanted, unloved, or unworthy. I write to him when I face a big decision in my life and I want His input on which path I should take, and many other various reasons.
We have a very loving Father in Heaven who is very involved in our lives, who is watching over us, and who wants us to turn to Him and Follow Him. He is the Way and the Light and through Him we will be blessed beyond measure. This I know and testify of.
After I write my letter I sign it...
Love, Lea Ann
Then I open up a letter in response to mine as if it were written by God Himself...
Dear Lea Ann...
Then I listen.
I turn inwards.
Whatever thoughts or feelings bubble up in me I write it down.
Sometimes it's a long silence and other times I can't write fast enough.
But I have always been given an answer to every letter I have written.
And the beautiful thing is, I get to keep them in my journal as a record of all the personal revelation that the Lord has inspired me with, all the answers to my struggles, and all the love that he fills me with, it is all recorded for me to look back on.
Then when I am done receiving inspiration I close the letter...
Love, God
"How do I know that the thoughts that come into my mind are really from God?" you may ask.
Well, I believe that any good thought that comes into my head is from a good Source, and if it is a blessing in my life to think it and receive it, then why wouldn't it be from my Father who loves me and wants to help me?
If it is a good thought, it will bring forth good fruit. Good deeds.
Now that I have my letter from God, I must take immediate action on at least one answer that I received so that I am training my Elephant to listen and obey to His good Word.
When I take action, it solidifies the solution in my mind and it helps me overcome, work through, and resolve whatever issue I brought to the Lord.
I hope that me sharing this will bless someone's life, and I hope that even the non-believers can learn good principles from this post. I hope that the principle you pull out of this is that you need to talk to someone/something that is more powerful than you, you need to seek inspiration and wisdom, and you can find it by listening. Turn inward and listen with your heart and you will connect with True Source.
