Monday Mindset: Believe
Hi everyone! I'm taking this snippet from a well-known psychologist and coach Carol Kauffman, Ph.D.. She based the whole article on Ted Lasso, which I have admittedly never watched.
But the theme is around being able to shake it off when you make a mistake, and focus on the 80% you're doing relatively well at, rather than the 20% where it feels like you blew it.
If you think about anything where you've done where most people give you glowing feedback, but there's that one person who has a criticism (constructive or not), and that's the thing you fixate on. We do this ourselves a lot, and we see it all the time with people on a health journey, which is hardly ever linear.
Kauffman concludes with this: "You don't need 100% certainty. You don't need a flawless record. You don't need to know exactly where you'll land. Learn from the 20%. Remember the 80%. And then get back on the field. Because perhaps the real test of belief isn't whether you believe in yourself when everything is going right. It's whether you can still believe when something goes wrong."
Still believe when something goes wrong.
Ever struggle here? An example would be where you eat something off plan, and then just shrug and say, "Oh well, I blew it," and then you continue to eat garbage, when you *could* treat it as simply a lapse and get back on the horse.
We are here to support you in learning how to relish in that 80%!
