Authenticity has been on my mind lately. It's one of my personal values, and I'm curious about what it really means to live authentically.
As an educator and coach, I've listened to many people who have spent years pursuing external achievements. For some, achievement was how they learned to receive love, acceptance, or recognition. So they followed that path, often becoming very good at meeting the expectations of others.
Yet, over time, many begin to long for something more: a deeper sense of personal fulfilment, purpose, and connection with who they really are.
I've seen how self-reflection, new experiences, and frameworks like the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) can help people reconnect with themselves. One person, for example, found that combining self-reflection with life as a digital nomad helped them experience more joy and less depression.
But becoming more authentic isn't always easy.
It can mean finding the courage to speak our minds, even when we fear rejection. It can mean navigating group situations where we feel we don't quite belong, questioning the expectations we've been living by, or searching for a sense of purpose that feels genuinely our own.
So I'm curious: How authentically do you feel you're living today?
