IDGs and union work?
This is more of a question than a statement for the group. In some work environments, talking about inner development can still be met with resistance, to say the least. I have recently become a union representative at my institution, and I am beginning to see quite a lot of alignment between union work and the IDGs. Although unions are often perceived mainly as dealing with administrative and legal complexities, I feel there is also something much more tangible and outspokenly human in this space: dignity, dialogue, responsibility, courage, care, and the protection of meaningful work. Has anyone here had experience with implementing the IDGs, or other inner development pathways, through a union framework or similar structures?

Adelaide Climate Action Week embeds IDG in Australian first.
Incredibly proud to share a massive milestone for our local community and the global movement! ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ Adelaide Climate Action Week (#ACAW2026) is officially integrating the Inner Development Goals framework into its entire 7-day program this July - making it the first climate event in Australia to do so! Instead of treating the IDGs as standalone academic theory, as part of the awesome ACAW organising team, we are seamlessly embedding the 5 dimensions directly into the operational infrastructure of the festival. We are calling it the "Root to Fruit" strategy: activating the relational and cognitive inner skills (the root) to drive measurable, collective climate action on the ground (the fruit). What this looks like in practice is multi-dimentional interactions Connect, Reflect and Contribute. Momentum to here has been built through the stewardship for embedding the IDG that I've doing with national women's organisations and climate networks in Australia. ACAW is a huge step forward in shifting the climate narrative in Australia from individual anxiety to collective, human-centred agency. Deep gratitude to everyone in the IDG community who is championing the IDG which collectively adds the ripples that makes milestones like these possible. Much love to you and all, Wx ๐Ÿ’ž https://acaw.org.au/

Drawing from ancient wisdom - a new reflective guide
Update June 24th: watch the short conversation @Nadene Canning and I had about the guide and why we think it's so valuable! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐ŸŽฌ watch the video below! *** I like what EMCC (European Mentoring & Coaching Council) shares in their new guide to support members in reflecting more deeply on how they might want to engage in systemic work with clients focused on sustainable models of living and being. Key Wisdom Concepts - Observe and Interact: Derived from permaculture, this principle emphasizes deep listening and embodied observation to support clients in making positive incremental changes. - The More-Than-Human World: Challenges the idea of human superiority by viewing humanity as part of a vast ecological community. This includes the "wisdom of trees" (interconnected support networks) and "deep time" (viewing life through Earth's 4.6-billion-year history). - Ancient Human Wisdom: Incorporates teachings such as Ubuntu (interdependence), Komorebi (noticing subtle beauty), and the "Four Sacred Gifts" (forgiveness, unity, healing, and hope). - Reciprocity and Abundance: Inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer's work on the serviceberry, this concept shifts from a scarcity mindset to one of gratitude and giving back to the ecosystem. The guide is available for download here

Three ways humans are embedded in the biosphere
Humans are not separate from nature. We are part of it. Our cultures, economies, and social structures are deeply embedded in the biosphere โ€“ the living fabric of Earth that makes human life possible. A new paper in Cell Reports Sustainability argues that treating humans and nature as separate is a serious barrier to building sustainable futures. The authors introduce three ways to understand how humans are embedded in nature: โ€ข Compositional โ€“ we are made up of and shaped by the living world around us โ€ข Relational โ€“ our actions transform nature, which in turn transforms us - โ€ผ๏ธ โ€ข Evolutionary โ€“ human and ecological change unfold together over time Recognising this embeddedness can help science and policy better address sustainability challenges and move beyond the old divide between humans and nature.
