Tactical Tuesday: The One-on-One Angle Trap
Every Tuesday, I am going to break down the exact real-game scenarios I had to deal with as a professional goalkeeper, and the high-pressure situations I coach my students to overcome. Here is your scenario for this week: The Situation: You are the goalkeeper. A fast striker breaks past your defence on your right-hand side. They are entering the penalty box at a tight, 45-degree angle. Your defender is sprinting back but cannot catch them. What would you do ? Vote Below AND explain why you voted this way, and why the other choices could cost you a goal!

👋 Welcome to the J4K Goalkeeper Community!
Hi Keepers and Parents As you probably know, goalkeeping is a VERY LONELY position for both keepers and parents. If you are a parent who has no idea how to help your child, let the leading goalkeeper coaching school since 1998 hold you and your child by the hand. We have helped hundreds of keepers go pro or gain USA scholarships. For example, Adam Davies, who plays for Wales and was in the 2022 World Cup, is an ex-J4K student. This is exactly why J4K created this community—so you never have to do this alone again. There is absolutely nothing like this on the planet! To get started, please take two minutes to complete these two steps: 1️⃣ Introduce Yourself Below: Tell us your name, what country you’re from, and share ONE thing you or your child is struggling with right now (handling, positioning, or confidence). 2️⃣ Claim Your Free Asset: I have unlocked The Free Goalkeeper Confidence Blueprint completely for free to eliminate match-day anxiety before your next game. IMPORTANT: Because there are children in the community, we have ZERO tolerance for spam, bullying, or indirect selling. Accounts breaking these rules are reported instantly and banned. What is with Tiktok?
Obviously a football agent has reached out through Tiktok and can offer Xavier a trial at Norwish (yes he typed it like that) in a couple of weeks, all I have to do is pay €1000 then he will get the letter sorted. Apparently €1000 isn't that much when he signs his million pound pro contract. I don't think he appreciated me putting a large 😂 emoji, he asked what I thought, it would be free for him to be the agent 🤔 well yes actually, if you're that good then you get paid after he signs the contract 🤭😂😂😂 Kirsty

Squad numbers are out: Are we flying solo again next season?
Hi guys, Just wanted to share a quick update on my son's situation for the upcoming season. When the new coach first called me to introduce himself, he mentioned that he wanted to have two goalkeepers in the squad this year. I was actually really pleased to hear that (you might know that last season my son was the only one keeper in his team because the other one left the team just before starting the season). To me, having two keepers is a massive win-win: it gives Lizer a "brother-in-arms" to share the specific pressures of the position with, and a bit of healthy competition always pushes them both to improve. The downside is that they would share minutes, instead of Lizer playing every single game like this year. Well, the coach just sent out the squad numbers for next season. Lizer is keeping his #13—he wanted to change to #1, but it would have meant paying for a whole new kit again so we'll wait for 27/28 season expecting him to grow up and force us to buy it—but looking at the rest of the list, there isn't a single other "traditional" goalkeeper number on there. We only have two new boys joining the team, and they’ve taken #19 and #20, which definitely sound like outfield numbers. Unless the gaffer brings in a late signing, it looks like Lizer is going to be flying solo yet again. There are still a little over two months left until the new season starts, though. I'll keep you updated...
