Squad numbers are out: Are we flying solo again next season?

Just wanted to share a quick update on my son's situation for the upcoming season.

When the new coach first called me to introduce himself, he mentioned that he wanted to have two goalkeepers in the squad this year. I was actually really pleased to hear that (you might know that last season my son was the only one keeper in his team because the other one left the team just before starting the season). To me, having two keepers is a massive win-win: it gives Lizer a "brother-in-arms" to share the specific pressures of the position with, and a bit of healthy competition always pushes them both to improve. The downside is that they would share minutes, instead of Lizer playing every single game like this year.

Well, the coach just sent out the squad numbers for next season. Lizer is keeping his #13—he wanted to change to #1, but it would have meant paying for a whole new kit again so we'll wait for 27/28 season expecting him to grow up and force us to buy it—but looking at the rest of the list, there isn't a single other "traditional" goalkeeper number on there. We only have two new boys joining the team, and they’ve taken #19 and #20, which definitely sound like outfield numbers. Unless the gaffer brings in a late signing, it looks like Lizer is going to be flying solo yet again. There are still a little over two months left until the new season starts, though.
