Please take time to read this and add anything that you do or what approach you take. It hugely important the approach you take when digesting or talking about a game or a training session. Taking the wrong approach can really damage your child's feelings and even commitment to playing. If everything is negative the they can soon lose the passion to play. Don't talk at your child or players talk to them. Invite the conversation. Let them bring things up. Allow the child or players to digest and absorb what happened in the game. This will allow them to see the positives and possibly the areas where they want to improve. Taking a positive stance will give them motivation and association with what has happened on the pitch. I'm the first to admit (Paul) that I used to take the wrong approach and it could have a detrimental impact. Then it changed when we started writing things down this allowed both me and Riley the chance to record good things that had happened in games or training sessions and also areas that we would like to work on. This not only helped with our football relationship but with our own relationship. A small tweak can make the world of difference and did in our situation.

Unfortunately this evening we didn't make training. Today in Plymouth there was an incident which caused an accident and made the roads gridlocked. We left our house at 5pm at 5:45 we had only travel half a mile and we turned around. We arrive home at 6:15 pm. Gutted to miss training but these things happen. The roads near our house are still very busy at 8pm where they are normally quiet. I'm training tomorrow with j4k so at least I will be ready for Saturday

A little tip for those of you that are struggling with cold hands when playing your matches, wear a pair of disposable blue gloves under your gloves! It’s an absolute game changer & is really cheap! ❄️
