Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year, celebrated every year from April 13โ15.
But the meaning goes way deeper than just water fights๐
Songkran marks the transition into a new year based on the sunโs movement.
Itโs basically Thailandโs version of:
- resetting your habits
- letting go of the past
- starting clean
Before all the crazy street parties and raves (which I will attend tonight ๐), there are meaningful rituals behind it:
- Pouring water over Buddha statues โ symbolizes purification
- Pouring scented water on eldersโ hands โ showing respect + asking for blessings
- Visiting temples and making merit
The way I see it...
Everyone talks about โstarting freshโ in January. But a lot of people already fell off by now.
Songkran can be your second shot.
A chance to let go of the baggage from the last 3 months.

I know only a few of us here are from Thailand / living in Thailand, but let's do this exercise together shall we???
- Reply with 1 habit thatโs been holding you back
- Reply with 1 non-negotiable (steps, protein, or workouts)
And remember: for the rest of the year, you are "a dial", not an on/off switchโผ๏ธ
Tell yourself that you won't need another reset. You just need to dial back and continue doing what you can.
