Why 99% of beginner copywriters fail (and the 3 skills you actually need)
Workshop Recordings are here now with detailed notes: https://www.skool.com/copywriting-launchpad/classroom/f983299b?md=a19fdf8b4590464b9b03eadf95942ace Most beginner copywriters spend thousands on courses, learn features and benefits, and still have no idea how to approach a real client project. This is half of Day 1 from the Copywriting Fundamentals Workshop, A live 5-day training taught by @Matthew Volkwyn and I. In this session, Matthew breaks down the only 3 types of copy you need to understand to write anything: 1️⃣ Idea Copy — How to grab the attention of the right person (not just any person). The hook is not about being clever. It is about being relevant, beneficial, and curious-making to the specific buyer. 2️⃣ Conversion Copy — How to shift a prospect's perspective so they are ready to buy before you ever pitch them. Most copywriters skip this entirely and go straight to the offer. That is why their copy does not convert. 3️⃣ Sales Copy — How to reduce risk, handle skepticism, and prompt action. This is the part AI produces easily — which means it is the least valuable skill to develop first. Matthew also walks through a live email teardown, demonstrates the Bruce Lee principle applied to copywriting, and shows you exactly what happens when you remove conversion copy from a pitch. Days 2–4 go deep into each of the three fundamental types of copy with more examples. Day 5 is a practical session where Matthew gives you a way to drill these fundamentals until they become muscle memory. Copywriting is not a shortcut. It is a learnable skill that rewards repetition, feedback, and honest practice. Copywriting Launchpad is where you do that work alongside other people on the same path. See You August 1st!
I know you want to make bank with copywriting. And you’ve seen all the results my mentees get. Despite this… You’re still struggling to wrap your head around how they do it while you look at Upwork or onlinejobs.ph. What are you missing? It’s not information! You probably know that creative strategy is the way to make the most right now. And you probably also know that closing clients is as simple as a good CV and a good network. So then, what’s the missing piece? Not action either! Most of you work very hard. Just the other day someone told me they've sent 200 cold emails in the last week with no response. “So what’s the missing piece? Just tell me Matthew!?” Kk It’s Fundamentals! It’s simple… you cannot currently see your blind spots. You may feel like you’re doing the right things, and you might FEEL like AI is helping you… But I’m telling you from my experience coaching over 100 copywriters privately to make 6-figures… Once you have your fundamentals down - you would be EMBARRASSED by the work you’ve done up until this point. 😅 Just recently I hired a few new copywriters who have all the information you have. They know what a hook is, they know what a mechanism is, and they even understand different levels of awareness… And yet… Even though they know the information, they work hard, and have a great attitude… And even though I hired them… Their fundamentals are - excuse my french - dog sh*t! If something doesn’t change soon, I’m going to have to let them go. 💀 So I’ve been kinda stuck for the past few weeks wondering how to help them level up as fast as possible. Then I had an idea… I started chatting to Nabeel Azeez And I suggested that we run 5 simple masterclasses on everything beginner copywriters actually need to tighten up their fundamentals and stop going around in circles. That’s why I’m writing this email to you… You’re invited to join us. Here’s what I’m going to be doing for you (and my two new copywriting juniors) on August 1st until August 5th.

She's Not Buying: A Copywriter's Field Guide to Female Buyer Psychology Stop Selling to Women Like They're Men Men buy linearly. Women buy circularly. If you're still using "pain, agitation, and twist the knife" on female buyers, you're making them feel manipulated, talked down to, and unseen. And when you make women feel like sh*t, they will NEVER do business with you. Your Product Is Good. Your Copy Is Repelling Her. You're using proven frameworks. You might even have women on your team who say the copy looks fine. But your ads aren't scaling. Your funnel is leaking. And women still aren't buying. Sound familiar? Here's what's actually happening: - You're using the same psychology to sell to women as you use to sell to men (pain, agitation, twist the knife) and wondering why she's gone. - Your retention copy, your CRO copy, and your creative strategy are all speaking in different brand voices. She notices the inconsistency. It kills her confidence. - You asked a woman on your team "would you buy this?" She said yes. You ran it. It flopped. That's not not how it works. - You feel like your product is good. You're right. The product isn't the problem. A real example: A client came to Lina feeling like "something was off" in her funnel but couldn't put her finger on it. Lina audited it and immediately found three different brand voices: one on retention, one on creative strategy, one on CRO, with no congruency between them. Her team was working in silos and didn't even know it. That's the kind of thing that costs you sales every single day and never shows up in your analytics.
Day 2 Workshop Recording is UP (She's Not Buying)
I've uploaded the recording for day 1 of @Lina Fahizul workshop, with detailed notes. You're welcome to join us for the final day of the workshop today at 2 pm GMT. Here's what we covered on day 2: - WARNING: If your funnel opens with product, proof, and price, you are selling to women the way you would sell to men. Here is what that is costing you and what to do instead. - Why stage four is the right place to open a funnel for men and exactly the wrong place to open one for women. The difference between these two starting points can explain an entire conversion gap. - "Become the woman who finally has it all together" vs. "For the woman who already knows what she wants, this is how she gets there faster." Why these two lines land in completely different parts of a woman's brain and which one actually converts. - Why you cannot logic a woman into a purchase and what has to happen first before any proof, price, or product feature will land. - The real reason your funnel is not converting female buyers and why changing the traffic source, the ad creative, or the price will not fix it.

Day 1 Workshop Recording is UP (She's Not Buying)
I've uploaded the recording for day 1 of @Lina Fahizul's workshop. I've also included detailed notes because reading is faster than watching. You're welcome to join us for days 2 and 3. Here's what we covered on day 1: - Why the way men and women buy is still governed by decisions made 200,000 years ago... and what that means for every sales page you write today. - Women do not buy products, they buy safety and security. Here's what that means for the way you frame your offer. - WARNING: The urgency, scarcity, and pain-agitation that every male marketer swears by quietly trigger a woman's nervous system to BOUNCE from your funnel. Here is what to use instead. - Why twisting the knife on a woman's pain creates resentment, not urgency. And what to do instead. - Why most male-written funnels are built arse-backwards to the way women ACTUALLY buy.
