(READ THIS?) Ben's Introduction for CopySkills
Hey all! Thought I'd pop in and chat abit about myself so we're not strangers! I'm Ben (the guy with the big nose on the poster)- and I'm a massive marketing nerd. A very happy one too... which is a funny thing to say considering most marketers still end up pulling their own hair out over how to order letters even after they get their hands on Schwartz's Breakthrough Advertising... Aside from marketing bits I love boxing (go watch Raging Bull it's genuinely so good) and painting naked women... which is actually a pretty aesthetic combo now I think of it... Either way they don't have anything to do with marketing so that's why I'm mentioning them at the start of this spiel.... ...Before I start talking and can't stop 😛 Picked up Copywriting about a year and a half ago now from the best sales call of my life... Like genuinely. Nobody else was in that room- that guy on THAT webinar was talking directly to ME... I remember booking this special moment from one of those Instagram lead-gen ads- like the ones that have the guy with the Lambo and the hot girls and the shiny watches... I did say "the best sales call"- didn't I? It talked money and I wanted money... -Still do frankly- Anyway, I'd propped up my iPhone 6 on some books in my room for the private event (4000 attendees) and began the ordeal. Told my mum I was on a "business call" and remember locking myself in my room and watching the livestream under the covers... Wasn't exactly an exclusive "black-tie" - but for what it's worth, it felt like it... And I didn't know it at the time- but in those 25 minutes I'd subconsciously had a whole Duel of the Fates with the guy who I'd been for 18 years until that point. Funny how one small decision can spur your life in a whooooole different direction when you decide to take action. Anyway, long story short- mr. guru was kind enough to exchange my $699 for some sacred online documentation on how to "whitelabel his marketing services so I never even needed to learn marketing."

Killing it @Waisale Naqiolevu , keep going!
I wrote a 10,000 word sales letter for free as an experiment
Don't ask others, “How do I get clients?” Ask yourself, “Why am I not willing to do whatever takes to get clients?” The case study I cover in this video is a simple (not easy) way for any copywriter gain a lot of credibility and get a bunch of prospects DM'ing you.

This was so relevant! Thank you! @Nabeel Azeez I’m having a similar situation now with a client I’m working with in-house and learned the hard way of agreeing to unrealistic deadlines…. I agreed to write a full-funnel website in a few days… Never again. A massive takeaway for me from this is the unorthodox approach you took to getting noticed… I have a great example I’ll share when I reach level 2 and can post! I was interviewing email copywriters when I was big on ecom and found a strategy to land bookings to learn more from experts at a 20% booking rate Going to be testing my method to get clients out of the SaaS I’m marketing for and documenting the journey. Very excited to be going through this content

@Nabeel Azeez Very true, I interviewed Jonathan Beaudoin-Sansgrin who appeared on CopyThat! A few times in Jan and he said the same exact thing. Sean mentored him, very insightful guy Website was with a client from the nuclear sector so super technical. Actually used my AI to speed things up first and then found it made hallucinations of what the exact services the client provides where while it had data from the client … Still having a similar problem with AI hallucinations in writing for sectors that are quite technical… which means I have not found the right solution yet! Any thoughts for AI that writes wholly compliant copy?
"Story Ideas" made easy!
A few hours ago, I was listening to a podcast where John Carlton was talking about storytelling. It reminded me of an email I read a while ago that made coming up with story ideas much easier. The idea is simple: Use other people’s stories in your content. Share a story someone else told, and present it in your own way. For this, you can use different variations of the following text before starting the story: “Below is a rather entertaining story I recently heard from marketing legend Dan Kennedy, which holds a valuable marketing lesson too :)” Then go straight into the story. Why this works: You are borrowing credibility from a known figure and then delivering a narrative (which increases engagement and retention). It reduces two common bottlenecks: “I don’t have interesting stories” “I’m not experienced enough” Hope that helps.

@Abdullah Al Really fascinating! I found the same idea in a copywriting paper I’m publishing at the moment… You find a working storytelling formula which is performing likely better than if you where to come up with an original, and strap on your own bits and pieces inside the formula to keep it original- keeping what works and making it yours! Love it man🎯
