Gym anxiety is extremely common, especially for beginners. The unfamiliar equipment, the people who look like they know exactly what they’re doing, the sound of weights, the fear of being judged… It’s a real barrier for a lot of people.
But here’s the truth: Everyone in that gym was a beginner once. And most people are far too focused on their own workout to notice yours.
A few tips for navigating gym anxiety:
📋 Go in with a plan so you’re not wandering and know exactly where to go
🕐 Try going during off-peak hours (mid-morning or early afternoon if you can)
🎧 Headphones in = focus mode activated (a good playlist also helps)
🤝 Ask a staff member to show you equipment – that’s a part of their job
