Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Rockstud Noir is a limited edition flanker in the Born in Roma line, presented in the signature studded bottle with a sleek black finish. It carries the line’s modern, sensual DNA with a darker, slightly more mysterious edge, opening with a bright touch of bergamot, moving into a heart of sage for aromatic depth, and drying down to a smooth ambergris base. While the three notes scent profile is refined and versatile, projection and longevity is pretty weak for a Valentino which was disappointing. I did read some batches lean noticeably weaker and it’s right, my own bottle in particular performs quite softly, with both projection and longevity on the lighter side, requiring extra sprays or reapplication to make an impact. Overall I’d give it a 5.7/10 mostly due to the projection and longevity. It smells great like most Valentino’s but this was a let down but it’s still great to add it to my Born In Roma line. I have BIR Gold on the way and then I only require the new BIR Ivory (once released in the UK) to complete the whole BIR line.
