SOTD: Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Sport
Good morning gents!
Latest decant to go, Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Sport. Had always been curious about this one, and finally got around it.
Grapefruit and bergamot on the opening, leather and nutmeg in the heart, and vetiver, cedar and ambergris at the base.
I was curious on how the leather would interact in a "Sport" fragrance above all. However, I never really picked up any prominent leather note at all, which I kind of expected. The opening is of course VERY fresh, with the citruses coming out smooth and nice, not sharp. Yuzu is not declared, but I could swear it's there, but maybe it's just me keeping the OG L’Eau d’Issey on mind.
Citruses start fading away at about the 20 minute mark, but never completely dissappear to my nose. Just get further and further into the background, allowing the earthiness of the nutmeg blend nicely with the yet again fresh base, slowly, and at about a 1 - 1.5 hours, it has dried down into a still rather fresh scent, primarily off the vetiver and ambergris. Ambergris is not overly strong, it stays rather nice.
I found it interesting, but I keep feeling this one is a combination of Polo Sport and L’Eau d’Issey. Something like Polo Sports fizziness with Yuzu (which again, is not declared).
I mainly used the scent as a gym scent, but gave it two full wears before the decant was gone. Performance based off those two wears was rather positive, unexpectively. Last wear I applied standard amount (6-7 sprays), at about 10am, and could still feel the scent lingering at about 4ish.
It's a GREAT scent, and even more impressive if you consider that 100ml testers can be found for about $20ish rather easily. Full presentation on most discounters are at around $30 for the 100ml.
Conclusion:
Do I like it? Very much.
Did I enjoy the decant? Absolutely.
Full bottle worthy, for me? This fragrance works wonders for light, warm days. Gym scent approved as well. Very difficult not to recommend, especially considering the price. I do believe this could be bottle-worthy.
