SOTD: Rabanne Invictus Victory Absolu
Good morning gents! As mentioned plenty of times before, not a big fan of sweet and dense fragrances, but I did get two 1.7ml samples of this one a couple of months ago, and took the chance of the colder weather we had back in Nov and Dec. to go over them. Wasn't going to throw them away, was I? In addition to that, the Invictus DNA isn't much of my cup of tea. I do like Aqua 2024, and to a much lesser extent the OG, but that's it. I had a bottle of Aqua, and it only lasted a few months in the collection before I gave it away. With that, I wasn't very optimistic when testing Victory Absolu... but was pleasantly suprised. A sweet and spicy fragrance in general, it list few notes, but several of those usually nice to my nose. The opening is without a doubt, the expected sweet-and-spicy profile I expected. From the get-go I already get an ambery nature out of it, which is very welcome. A very warm, embracing opening, with the sweetness not feeling really gourmand, which is a plus in my book. I could imagine the sweetness being a representation of the bubble-bummy sweetness of the line being there. Creamy and ambery. Depending on where you look, it lists ambergris, but I don't really get much of that, if at all. Maybe a bit of saltiness on top? Not going to state it smells like that, but I get a salted-dark-chocolatey vibe once its transitioning to the mid. I would say it happens when the spicy opening/saltiness of the ambergris/patchoully start mixing together. Amber is more prominent here, and continues to be a nice warm scent. Full dry down doesn't change much to me. Becomes greener, yes, but that was it to my nose. Creamy sandalwood for sure, which I love. Performance is great. Easy 2 hours projecting quite noticeably, and never really turning into a full blown skin scent, even after 6-7 hours. Maybe a bit too much of a performer for me, because of the scent profile. Conclusion: Do I like it? Yes, it is a very nice . Did I enjoy the decants? Contrary to initial thoughts, I did.

SOTD - Armani Code Parfum
Just took a piping hot shower after cleaning all the snow off my car and am trying out my decant from my iris fragrance haul. First impressions are its a nice scent but nothing really stands out. The iris is more in the background compared to my other iris frags and the overall performance seems a little weak to me. I'll give it a few more wears but I like the other iris frags in my collection better.

I agree. The Code DNA I find very good. A line to consider, always, but but nothing noteworthy. The Parfum doe sadd that very nice iris note, that makes it stand out a bit over the EDT and EDP in my opinion.

This happens to me already with a $50 designer! The horror...

SB Infrared EDP here! Although Spicebomb is really not much of my vibe, Infrared is a very nice warm scent to my nose. The combination of the usual Spicebomb DNA with the extra spiciness from the chilli peppers and leather really brings it up for me. That sweetish-spice of them really works in my opinion.
Post Shower Review
Tonight, after my shower, I reached for Hugo Boss Bottled Absolu and gave myself a few sprays. Right away it felt smooth and comforting, like putting on something familiar but upgraded. It opens warm and slightly sweet, with a rich depth that instantly feels more grown and confident. As it settles on my skin, I get a cozy blend of woods and amber, with just enough sweetness to keep it inviting without being loud. It smells polished and clean, but also deep and masculine. This is the kind of scent that feels calm and put-together, not rushed or flashy. About 20–30 minutes in, it really starts to shine. The warmth comes through more, almost creamy, and it feels perfect for the evening. It’s relaxing, classy, and makes me want to slow down and enjoy the night. Overall, this is a great after-shower fragrance for winding down. It feels confident, smooth, and comforting—like something you wear for yourself, not to impress anyone else.

40, and digging RMRS content so much. Once you thought you got your things together, you find out that you really knew little. Much to learn.
