SOTD: Creed Virgin Island Water

Good day gents!

Next decant/sample... Virgin Island Water from Creed. This is one of the samples I had tossed aside and forgotten about. "Coconut?" I asked. Nah. I don't like coconut in general.

But after experiencing Coconut Lagoon from Paris Corner (https://www.skool.com/bos/sotd-paris-corner-coconut-lagoon) and finding myself loving it, I just had to find this sample among my drawer and give it a try.

I was not surprised to see the idea of the fragrance was very much the same. In fact, I had not noticed that fragrantica lists coconut lagoon as strongly reminding VIW. However, my only, very minor gripe with Coconut Lagoon is that the sweetness ends up overpowering the citruses and coconut a bit too much.

VIW does not do that in my nose. I get the citruses and coconut across the lifetime of the fragrance wear, the florals and sugary base of it popping more and more as it dries down, but never erasing that amazing opening. Todays wear only reinforces the fact that I need to head to the beach ASAP.

Performance on me is about average or slightly below. 4-5 hour scent, at time where it's a very faint skin scent. Reapplying may be required. Sillage however is rather nice.

Conclusion:

Do I like it? Very much.

Am I going to enjoy the decant? Absolutely.

Full bottle worthy, for me? It would, if performance wasn't an issue. For the price, I'd still go for Coconut Lagoon first anyday.
