Argos Adonis Awakens is the first from the house that I heard of, and sought out. This began an exploration of the fragrances from Argos, and I currently own full bottles of Adonis, Fall of Phaeton, Triumph of Bacchus (EDP), and Sacred Flame. In addition, I own 10 ml decants of Sacred Flame, BOT Extrait, Neptune's Trident, Perseus Triumphant, and Danae.
Adonis Awakens is a unisex fragrance that has a sweet, fruity, and woody scent profile. The opening notes are very sweet, with a hint of rose and smoke. The official top notes are bergamot, grapefruit, and pink pepper. The heart reveals a rich blend of Bulgarian rose, jasmine sambac, vanilla, raspberry, and chestnut, creating a creamy, fruity sweetness with earthy floral elements. The fragrance settles into a warm, woody base, featuring Mysore sandalwood, cashmere wood, and rose absolute, with a smoky undertone.
The fragrance does not push off the skin aggressively, hence it has moderate projection and sillage, making it noticeable yet not overpowering. Longevity on me is about 7 hours, but I have seen reports of longevity between 8-10 hours. I believe Adonis is well-suited for cooler evenings in fall and spring, as well as cooler summer nights. I don't think that it is suitable for year-round wear because projection during winter is sub-par. It is a unisex fragrance; but it carries a slightly masculine lean.
This is not my favorite from the house, but everything has its place. I have no regrets with the purchase but strongly suggest testing before committing to a full bottle. Decants are readily available at online decant retailers.
