Fragrance expectations being a disappointment.

Have you ever had a fragrance from a house that you love that has been a disappointment? I was in a store last night with my spouse and I was showing her some fragrances when I can across Terre d’Hermes Eau Givree. This has been on my list for a while and I even had it in my basket to purchase when I get back. We were both taken back with the tartness. She really enjoyed the EDT, which I have at home and wear regularly. Have you had one scent where you had high expectations that really was a disappointment?
