Amouage Outlands vs Rayhaan Terra

I picked up a full bottle of Rayhaan Terra from bro

in a bottle swap. This was a great trade all around.

The big question is; how does the HIGHLY hyped clone compare to the OG? Based on a number of YouTube influencers and fragrantica, the clone is a giant killer!🙄 This is my experience with the OG on my right wrist and the clone on the left:

On the opening, both have a little funk that will repel many, but within seconds the OG settles down to a cardamom, pepper, and heavy frankincense with some citrus. The clone maintains that funk for a few minutes longer but settles down to a spicy/cardamom/peppery, citrusy frag too.

On dry down, the differences fade QUICKLY. The Amouage is very COMPLEX, resinous frag with some ambergris making a faint appearance. If you're an Amouage lover, Overlands is really nice! Unfortunately, even my Amouage standards it's expensive (about $400 at olfactory), but came out last year so maybe the price will loosen up over time.

The clone on dry down is wonderful... AGAIN, be forewarned! If you're not into Amouage, you're NOT going to like this one either. If you prefer the crowd-pleasers, you're best advised to stay away from Amouage altogether (in case you forgot...)

The Amouage is the superior frag. It's blended better and the materials are better, but are you going to notice without doing an A:B test? My money says, NO SIR. Longevity is expected to be better with the OG (about 10 hours vs 6-7 hours.)

Price: $400 vs $35. Again, that's FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS (💵) vs thirty-five hundred pennies (¢). I don't see the OG in my foreseeable future and I'll just suffer with this great (not-a-giant-killer) clone.😉 TBH, I think I MAY like the Rayhaan a little better on skin, but the wife preferred the OG (slightly.)
