Do I start direct mail asap? Or do the M82 things first?
One of the things I am struggling with: When do you start sending the actual mailing? I am starting a new business, accounting services, and will need to find clients (otherwise there will be no business). I have an idea of what a quality client looks like, but I'm new to the game so its mostly based on assumptions. Same goes for their pains, preferred outcomes, etc. So, should I spent my time improving on my market research? Or start doing the mailings asap and use this as a learning opportunity as well as a way to fund clients? While writing this I already found my answer, but I'm still curious to see what you think.

Call directly and ask: "Hey, I'm looking to interview (target market) to get some answers about (topic). I'm conducting a study and give all participants the results afterwards. I would really appreciate your opinion on it. Would it be crazy to talk for 15 min on the phone?" More or less like that. And then ask questions about the problems according to your service they have. Ask what they wish someone could do for them. At the end ask if they know somebody who would like to use a service like that, if someone would provide it. And go from there. It's the fastest way. And if you don't like to talk to people.... find a student to do it.
Revised sales letter following my arse-kicking!
Dear @Connor Benham oh marketing-yoda! Here it is, all the lessons I've learned and many I've forgotten. A sales letter to accompany the coconut with a QR code to this web page: https://www.somersetwm.co.uk/coconuts Thoughts gratefully received! P.S. I can't mention pensions, finances, or money in the letter 'cos then I'll have to include all the FCA bollocks, so it's deliberately light to get them into the web domain to book a call. P.P.S. QR code is traceable to each person, so I can follow up via LinkedIn or other lumpy mail idc. P.P.P.S. Sales letter pdf render is a screenshot - the actual letter looks far more professionally handwritten

For me there is a huge disconnect between the coconut and the headline. You explain the coconut also quite late. Bring it up to the front Maybe it's because I'm not your market. But I have to idea why you talk about being a vegetarian and not flying anymore. You need to do that to get this certification? 🤔 Can you may find a better connection to something they already think about?
Q&A Recording: Direct Mail Madness
This is the full unedited, raw, uncensored version. Skip the first 4 or so minutes to avoid the catch-ups, and the waffling of friends. Or watch it, to see if you'd fit in - plus you'd get to see Vegard's caravan. And if you're just watching for business, here's what we covered: - The call to action that can turn your direct mail letter into a response magnet - How to follow up with the right prospects without annoying them (and actually get results) - The real way to win high-value clients - and get them to say yes - How to build an email list that doesn’t depend on social media – the brutal truth about marketing - Why you should never bully prospects into your calendar - The truth about handling the dreaded price conversation - The critical elements that makes or breaks every direct mail campaign - Why you must be clear, not cute in direct mail if you want to win And more. Obviously. If you have any follow-up questions, or if something stood out to you - drop it below. Thanks to all those that came. Till the next one, next month. P.S. If you aren't a member of this community, you can rectify that silliness, by joining us for free here. Joining is a must if you wish to ask a question, join live, and secure future replays.

Removing resistance
Apologies if this has already been posted about, I had a search and couldn't find anything. Has anyone tested if the response rates increase if you include something like "Text YES to (insert phone number) to start a conversation" instead of "Send me a message on (insert number) to start a conversation and see if we are a good fit" If so, has there been much of a difference in response rates? I've been inspired by the coconut challenge and have been brainstorming a few ideas of my own (toy unicorns, mini hour glass, bags of sand, a Mini compass or a rubber band) I'm testing each over the next few weeks (and stealing elements of the letter design and text you showed in the coconut video and adjusting for my market) I'll keep everyone posted with the results

Hey Liam, 1. Depends on your market. Young people prefer to text. Older (when you old btw?) prefer calls. Others risk free reports, etc. 2. Sounds like you have no data yet. Wouldn't test such small variables. (See above) 3. Don't think about what words you use. Spend your time on your offer. If it's the right one, the words nearly don't matter. 👍
