That is a great attitude...concentrating on the 'sharing' aspects and less on the numbers, analytics, glamour & glitz. Coming from the backend side of video production (set-design, lighting, script-writing, and technical direction), I've depended upon people with solid on-camera skills to deliver content. Now that I'm looking around here at successful people on Skool, it seems to be more important to be 'real' rather than 'slick'. I'm getting there...well into the 'uncomfortable' parts 😉

@Mary Carolyn I started following her channel as well. This link should get people there directly https://www.youtube.com/@PeacockPotsPotter
Mixing glazes
We talked about our favorite commercial glazes but who here also mixes some of their glazes? Where do you find your recipes for them? What’s your favorite that you mix? I love John Britt’s glaze book and I also use Glazy.org. Joe Thompson has really good glaze recipes on Glazy.. If you’re just starting out, his first five series is a good place to begin - five basic ingredients plus a colorant. And Glazy is free! I think my favorite that I mix is John’s Floating Blue 2 from John Britt’s book. Whenever I do a show, those are usually the first pieces to go. And if anyone requests a specific glaze, that’s usually it. Don’t get me wrong - I still buy a lot of glazes. But I also have a shelf of glazes I’ve mixed. So let me know. Do you mix any of your glazes? If not, why don’t you try? (That’s a question - why not?)

In my years of 🔥Cone 10 reduction firing🔥, I mixed all of the glazes that I used (probably 6 total) 'not sure of all of the origins, the 'secret recipes' were handed down from one academic class to another. I am a John Britt Cone 6 fan and combine what he has published with some searching of the internet to see if others have experience/tips/wins etc. On work that is heavy on the underglaze side, I use Britt's 3 ingredient clear...works like a charm! My favorite Cone 10 Woo's Blue recipe is available on Glazy if anyone is curious: Woo Blue V20250225 | Glazy and I'm on the hunt for a Cone 6 Oxidation recipe that gets close to the reduction results (and that is asking a lot).
We Need to Talk 💛
I’m currently watching Angela throw live on my phone — and it’s just the most beautiful thing. Gigi is there, Sarah, Pat, Denise, Mary, Ronda… and Lori from Wandering Soul too. We’re all in the chat together, reacting, cheering her on. And it hit me. We’re all there… but we can’t actually talk to each other. So let’s change that. 💪🏻 What if we start a weekly community call?🪿 We could pick a time that works best for most of us, and then meet once a week right here on Skool. Just one hour. Nothing complicated. Everyone who wants to can share their “Piece of the Week” — something you’re working on, something you finished, a struggle, a question, an idea. You’ll have the space to show your work, ask for feedback, and just connect.✨ No pressure. Just pottery people hanging out, supporting each other. What do you think? Would you join? 💛

I’d love to lurk, even I didn’t have anything to say/share.
My Visit to Kansas Clay and Bracker’s
Bracker's Good Earth Clays Tour: Every Potter Needs to See This https://youtu.be/jAWFwJ7Fapw Dear Friends, I posted a brief video yesterday of my recent field trip to buy clay I can’t get in Tulsa. I showed up unannounced and they were so excited. They explained their midfire clays and also how they produce their clay. I take you on a quick spin around the shop. They carry everything! You might really find a unique product “ZigSig” interesting. I hope you can watch it and comment. I’m really trying to get more view hours. It’s hard because most of my videos are about this length. Hugs to you all.

Terrific review, Sarah.❤️ It does my heart good to see someone do more with terra sigillata. It adds a whole new world of possibilities. If anyone is interested in making your own, I recommend a quick Google of "Vince Pitelka Terra Sigillata".

@Mary Carolyn I still have a batch that I made long ago, but I never thought about adding a colorant to it. One more rabbit to chase, right?

Nicely done, Pat! 🙂Would you share what clay you are using for these? 🤔I'd like to see something like this holding on to the outside rim of a hanging basket...with one arm used over the edge to anchor the gnome. 😁And could you have those formed, fired, glazed, and ready to ship this afternoon? LOL (In my best 'weirdo craft fair customer' voice)

This is where archeology, music, & clay collide to encourage people who have interests in ceramic musical instruments. Let's keep learning!
