Best kiln pieces 😊
I’m so sorry I missed the live chat again, but I actually went out! to a wedding, which was great fun😊 but sadly didn’t find my new husband 😆 and today I opened the kiln to these beauties and thank you @Kim Undseth to the glaze combos 💕 The small vase has new to me Amaco Satin Matte Moss 😊

I see olive float, too, and I love that glaze. Everything looks fabulous!
Tiny Forest Visitor 🦌💜
Following on from our Skool call last night, I promised I would share the little video clip my hubby captured on his drive home last night. We live in a tiny place called Far Forest here in the UK. Our home is tucked away at the end of a single track lane which only leads to 4 properties, and we’re incredibly lucky to have around 4 acres of land — about 3 acres of that being woodland/forest. One of the things we absolutely love about living here is the wildlife. We regularly hear muntjac deer calling to each other (if you’ve never heard them before… they honestly sound slightly terrifying 😂 like a strange screaming bark in the woods!). We often spot them on our security cameras, especially at night, but yesterday evening Mark was incredibly lucky. Just as the light was fading after a rain shower, a mother muntjac crossed in front of the car… and then her tiny baby followed behind 🥹 Honestly, we have NEVER seen one so young before. It looked the size of a little rabbit. Absolutely precious. It made me think again about our conversation on the call about wildlife and how “normal” animals for one country can sound so exotic and fascinating to someone else. Yes majority of us were freaked out at Nat from @Mudmagics spider bite and would not be able to sleep at night! So now I’m curious…What animals, birds, insects or reptiles do you regularly see where you live that feel completely normal to you — but might seem unusual or exotic to the rest of us? 😊

@Ronda Bynon Ronda - that’s what we get here in Oregon, too. And they get BIG - not the small size of a house cat anymore but much, much bigger and mean. A family of four climbed up on my front porch roof and tried to get in through an upstairs bedroom window which, luckily, was closed.
🌿 Today’s School Call + A New Idea I’m Really Excited About
Today’s School Call started a bit… chaotic 😄✨Everyone jumped in at once, lots of energy, lots of voices, it took a moment to settle in. But then @Renée Glasgow did exactly what she promised: a live kiln opening 🔥 And honestly, it turned into something really special. She shared her pieces while we were watching, some of us glazing at the same time, talking about her results, asking questions, reacting in the moment… and that’s when it really clicked for me how powerful this format is 💡 It’s so different from something like a YouTube premiere. Here we could pause, ask questions, go off on little tangents, and Renée would just continue whenever we were ready for the next piece. Super relaxed. Super interactive. And just really inspiring 🙌 So I had an idea: What if we open this up for all of you? 💭 If anyone feels like doing a live kiln unload here on the platform, we can just set up a spontaneous call. No pressure, no big production. Even during the week, at random times. You could show your pieces live, talk about your glaze results, get feedback, or just share the moment 🎨 And it doesn’t have to be just one person, maybe two or three of you team up and present your work together. Or even show pieces you unloaded a few days ago and want to talk through. Not everyone has a YouTube channel, and this could be such a nice way to still share more than just photos, to really connect, exchange ideas, and experience those kiln reveal moments together 🤍 I personally love this idea. So if you’re interested, just message me and we’ll set something up 😊Spontaneous, easy, and all about sharing the process. Would love to see more of your work this way 🙌✨

@Teresa Tschupp I hope your daughter’s okay
I’d like to introduce you to… the herd 💗🐘
They bring a smile to my face and joy to my heart. While I don’t do realistic art/sculpture, I saw something like these simplistic animals over a year ago and wanted to make myself a herd of elephants and finally gave it a go! I’ve always been fascinated by the elephant system of community which scientists say highlight: - A circle of protection around the community - Shared strength - Deep loyalty - Lifelong bonds As our potters community grows I see this happening all around the group… so, if you’re so inclined, please join the herd 😊

I started pottery by making porcelain dolls, then switched to clay over 30 years ago. I’m still learning.
