🌿 Today’s School Call + A New Idea I’m Really Excited About
Today’s School Call started a bit… chaotic 😄✨Everyone jumped in at once, lots of energy, lots of voices, it took a moment to settle in. But then @Renée Glasgow did exactly what she promised: a live kiln opening 🔥 And honestly, it turned into something really special. She shared her pieces while we were watching, some of us glazing at the same time, talking about her results, asking questions, reacting in the moment… and that’s when it really clicked for me how powerful this format is 💡 It’s so different from something like a YouTube premiere. Here we could pause, ask questions, go off on little tangents, and Renée would just continue whenever we were ready for the next piece. Super relaxed. Super interactive. And just really inspiring 🙌 So I had an idea: What if we open this up for all of you? 💭 If anyone feels like doing a live kiln unload here on the platform, we can just set up a spontaneous call. No pressure, no big production. Even during the week, at random times. You could show your pieces live, talk about your glaze results, get feedback, or just share the moment 🎨 And it doesn’t have to be just one person, maybe two or three of you team up and present your work together. Or even show pieces you unloaded a few days ago and want to talk through. Not everyone has a YouTube channel, and this could be such a nice way to still share more than just photos, to really connect, exchange ideas, and experience those kiln reveal moments together 🤍 I personally love this idea. So if you’re interested, just message me and we’ll set something up 😊Spontaneous, easy, and all about sharing the process. Would love to see more of your work this way 🙌✨

@Pat Webb I should have posted in my comment. She's okay, just so disappointed to have had another seizure and worried because she was alone with her daughter who will turn 2 on the 9th. Luckily her neighbor heard a thump and then Jorey crying for Mommy. She had a key, let herself in and saw my daughter on the kitchen floor and called 911.

@Pat Webb we are all grateful to her neighbor, for taking care of my daughter and grand baby. You're so right, they are terrible to experience and to witness. Little one keeps saying "she need privacy". She has just learned that word and I guess that's the only way she can understand why there was so much commotion. She wanted the paramedics to leave her momma alone.
Tiny Forest Visitor 🦌💜
Following on from our Skool call last night, I promised I would share the little video clip my hubby captured on his drive home last night. We live in a tiny place called Far Forest here in the UK. Our home is tucked away at the end of a single track lane which only leads to 4 properties, and we’re incredibly lucky to have around 4 acres of land — about 3 acres of that being woodland/forest. One of the things we absolutely love about living here is the wildlife. We regularly hear muntjac deer calling to each other (if you’ve never heard them before… they honestly sound slightly terrifying 😂 like a strange screaming bark in the woods!). We often spot them on our security cameras, especially at night, but yesterday evening Mark was incredibly lucky. Just as the light was fading after a rain shower, a mother muntjac crossed in front of the car… and then her tiny baby followed behind 🥹 Honestly, we have NEVER seen one so young before. It looked the size of a little rabbit. Absolutely precious. It made me think again about our conversation on the call about wildlife and how “normal” animals for one country can sound so exotic and fascinating to someone else. Yes majority of us were freaked out at Nat from @Mudmagics spider bite and would not be able to sleep at night! So now I’m curious…What animals, birds, insects or reptiles do you regularly see where you live that feel completely normal to you — but might seem unusual or exotic to the rest of us? 😊

I assumed it was your granddaughter when I read the header... and she is ADORABLE. But how sweet is that doe and her teeny-tiny fawn? Simple natural beauty right there.
Best kiln pieces 😊
I’m so sorry I missed the live chat again, but I actually went out! to a wedding, which was great fun😊 but sadly didn’t find my new husband 😆 and today I opened the kiln to these beauties and thank you @Kim Undseth to the glaze combos 💕 The small vase has new to me Amaco Satin Matte Moss 😊

Pottery Popup Update
The weather was cold (55F, 13c) but cooperated as the rain stopped a couple hours before the popup! My sale was 10-4 and I was still setting up at 9:50 when the first person arrived! My hubby had painted 7 spots in the barnyard to help people know where to park and those spaces were all full plus we had overflow into the field from 9:50 - 12:30pm! From 12:30-4 there were 1-3 carloads browsing and buying. I almost sold out but still have some pieces… some I’m truly surprised didn’t sell (like my little cookie cutter trinket dishes). I had 40-45 sales, many with multiple pieces. My husband snapped a few photos but I was not able to get any video as I had hoped 🤷🏻‍♀️ Highlights: - the interactions with people and talking clay in general. - Seeing those handful of people who spent close to an hour picking their perfect pieces! - Connecting with a clay sculpture artist from just down the road! - Seeing young people pick out something for Mom or friends gifts. - Seeing some good friends and neighbors stop by to support. - A lovely friend who is also a master gardener made three beautiful bouquets for my tables. Due to day job work commitments, I didn’t do everything I wanted but thanks to fellow potters on here and friends, I made the mental commitment to NOT berate myself for things I didn’t do. I’m reframing to things I’ll work to do next time: - those great labels that Audrey showed us how to do in one of her videos - Keep a better inventory and at least count pieces like Diana has shared she does for their markets. - Price pieces the day before the market I’m sure more ideas will come to mind. After the market my husband helped me pack up and he scooped me away to take me out to dinner, it was a good day filled with connections, pottery, new ideas and new beginnings 😊 (Also, I’m tired! 😂)

Sounds absolutely perfect Ona! I love that people actually connected with their pottery and examined the array before selecting their chosen piece. Woweee!
Finally trying Gwen's numerical challenges
@Gwen Sandau suggested using 3 glazes with consecutive numbers. These are 3 of the new Coyote fantasy glazes. MBG224 Pixy Wings MBG223 Direwolf MBG222 Stardust I found these glazes very well behaved. I only had one problem which may have been an application error.
