TV Changes IMPORTANT
UPDATE: This new update vanished at the end of November 2025. Wow, YouTube is making some subtle changes in the background. Channel stats and other information have a quietly changed in the smartphone view. However, one of the biggest changes I noticed was on the television. A new description TAB has been added to the TV, see my photo below. However, what is really important is that when you click on this tab the first few lines of your video description are visible (see photo below). Why is this important? Because if you have a bunch of filler or hashtags or other things at the top of your video description that’s what people are gonna see when they click on the description on a TV. For me, it’s a reminder to always make the first sentence or two really powerful for the video.

Thanks for sharing! I hadn't seen this yet.
Podcasters
Any in here? I started a new channel for my podcast. No videos up yet, still recording, but would love feedback on messaging etc. https://youtube.com/@thisshitcantbeit?si=a7fhlep53Jt76F9B

@Veronique Dumas its possible you can do that but I don’t mess with it. I use YouTube for video. And audio only goes on podcast player.

@Veronique Dumas you’re welcome. Spotify hosts for free and it’s pretty easy. https://creators.spotify.com/
6 Months After Monetisation: Why AdSense Was My Biggest Mistake
6 months after YouTube monetisation, here's what nobody tells you... Making $130 last month from AdSense was a wake-up call. That 'magic' 1K subscribers target? It's just the beginning of realising how little AdSense actually pays." I don't think many of us have sat down and really asked the question of what our personal monetary goal is. I was fortunate enough to monetise my Electric Vehicle channel very quickly, and I was ecstatic when I finally did. Yipee! I made it 🥳 Even though this fantastic milestone was achieved, in reality, making money with Adsense is never going to produce a comfortable income or replace an income. Here's the reality: My EV channel gets 2K-5K views per video. Last month's AdSense? $130. But when I started promoting affiliate products and gaining sponsorships, my income from this far exceeded my AdSense income by a country mile. One thing I wish I knew sooner and wish someone had told me is the fact that you don't need to achieve that magic metric of (1k subscribers and 4k watch hours). Sure, it feels great, but when the dust has settled and you see how much it pays, it suddenly dawns on you that you need to achieve thousands of views per video to ever make it worthwhile making videos. So, if you have a skill or passion you can share with the world, don't wait for permission from YouTube to monetise it. You can actually do that right now. If your content helps just 10 people solve a real problem, you're already ready to monetise. I've seen creators with 200 subscribers creating a great income because they serve a specific, engaged audience. Quality beats quantity every time. My biggest regret? Waiting 8 months to create my first digital product. Those months of 'building to 1K' could have been months of actual revenue. What knowledge could you package right now? What problem do your viewers ask about repeatedly? That's your first product. YouTube is a fantastic platform, but it's your marketing tool, not your business model.

It’s always best to position yourself to sell your own products (digital, physical or services). Affiliates are second best, then sponsorships and then Adsense is last. That doesn’t mean the others options won’t sometimes pay more but it’s the order in which I build because I have full control over my own products. It’s like building a house on a solid foundation (your own products or services ) . The rest (other income sources) are there to support the house but without a good foundation your house won’t last long.

Who here is building a Skool community with their YouTube channel? I have found both platforms work so well together. It has totally change my YouTube strategy.

Staying Front of Mind for Small Channels 🧠👈
Quick thought about staying "front of mind" as a small channel So someone in the comments mentioned they're struggling to upload regularly, and it got me thinking... "Front of mind" just means your audience remembers you exist between uploads. Simple as that. Most of us think we need to upload 3 times a week to stay relevant, but that's mental pressure and completely unnecessary. Here's what I've been doing instead: Community posts + repurposing existing content. So, check this out. I write these posts in ChatGPT (5 minutes) (I don't really write in ChatGPT, I use Claude, but I know most of you use ChatGPT 😜), schedule them throughout the week, then use Opus Clip to chop up my long-form videos. Result? My audience sees me 4-5 times per week without me filming anything new. My subscribers don't forget I exist, and the algorithm thinks I'm being consistent. If you're a smaller channel feeling that constant pressure to create... this might help. It's been a proper revelation for staying engaged without the burnout. Anyone else doing something similar? Or am I just overthinking the whole "staying relevant" thing? If you fancy giving this a go but are stuck on what to actually write about, I've got a ChatGPT prompt that works brilliantly for this - I'll drop it in the first comment. ------------------------------------ Implementation Notes ------------------------------------ Scheduling Strategy: - Monday: Motivational/mindset post - Wednesday: Behind-the-scenes or tip - Friday: Community question/poll - Sunday: Teaser for upcoming content Content Ideas Bank: - Quote cards from your videos - Behind-the-scenes photos - Poll questions about upcoming content - Short tips extracted from long-form videos - Progress updates on current projects - Community shout-outs and celebrations Repurposing Workflow: 1. Extract key moments from long-form content 2. Create quote graphics using Canva 3. Write discussion prompts around main topics 4. Schedule strategically between uploads

@Des Dreckett You’ve made it tons better as usual. 😊😁 It feels good to have a YouTube strategy that’s not just video focus, right?
