How to select my first 3 videos
Hello Creative Skoolers. What would you recommend for my first 3 Art Videos? I've got a ton of ideas and am in danger of idea overload, but not actually doing anything!! 😳 I want to start with three easy videos to kick things off but I'm struggling to decide. Talking head, time lapse? I don't want to do a how to because that requires a lot of planning which will delay me even further. I've got 5 Thumbnails lined up but can't seem to press go. Confused...😅🙈

@Mike Bayer I agree with this. The first videos aren’t going to matter so much. It’s more about getting in the habit in the beginning.
Looking for feedback
Hi everyone! So, I posted a video on my channel and wanted some feedback from everyone. The direction I’m going right now with my channel is art commentary along with a Timelapse video. Some channels that I’m getting inspiration from and I watch myself are “Duchess Celestia” and “Trent Kaniuga” Really appreciate this community and any feedback you can give me to be better 😊 https://youtu.be/T2uL72CqYgo?si=JvMMCd4gaVFoS_KE

@Alisha Clarke Thanks for your feedback, Alisha! The thought behind my channel is to talk about topics that might interest other artists and have a Timelapse in the background instead of just looking at me talking. I currently don’t want to go down the tutorial road just yet as I don’t see myself as a great teacher 😅 But, if I find that that’s where the interest is, I might have to change course.

@Matt Faris Hi Matt. Yes! That’s exactly what I’m going for. It’s almost like a therapy corner for artists where I talk about some of the more emotional aspects of being an artist and becoming better. And I like the idea of getting more personal and expressing why it is I paint.
My second video got 1 million views...here’s what I learnt (and what YT paid me)
Hi! Firstly, I’m so grateful to find this supportive community, and look forward to learning, connecting and sharing more here soon 😊 So eight years ago, I made a video that ended up going viral and hit a million views. It was a very simple five-minute guided meditation. I took a break from YouTube and just started creating again this year, but thought I’d reflect on what I’d learnt so far and share what YT paid me for it. 1. Just go for it When I recorded that meditation, I knew what I wanted to share but I didn’t write a script. I literally hit record on an old janky iPhone, freestyled, and uploaded it. There wasn’t even any editing involved (the audio quality is pretty bad but not one person mentioned it in the comments)! Sometimes we overthink the process and get caught up in needing the best camera, the perfect setting, or a polished script. Yes these matter, but it’s the idea that matters most. You don’t need fancy gear to start or to make an impact. If I had waited until everything was perfect, that video probably never would have happened. 2. You don’t need your face (although it can help) That video was faceless. I didn’t even have a moving video. It was just a thumbnail and static image! Face to camera can build more connection, but sometimes, the content can speak for itself. Funny enough when I do show my face I often get a lower CTR/watch time. If you’re not comfortable being on camera, you can still create something powerful without ever showing your face. 3. Make for humans, not the algorithm So often, we get caught up chasing the algorithm, trying to “crack the code” or game the system. But at the end of the day, it’s people who control the algorithm. It’s humans watching, sharing, and engaging with your content. So, focus on making something authentic that genuinely connects with viewers first. Finally, the title was Miracle Morning Meditation, at the time there was a popular book called the miracle morning and I assume I received some traffic from people searching for that too. Is there a way you can incorporate something similar in one of your upcoming videos to piggyback on traffic (which still pointing viewers to something valuable for them)?

@Alisha Smith really cool to fear that faceless channels can be successful as well 😊
Getting Started timeline
Hello everyone. If your Channel is already up and running, how long did it take from the idea to launching it. And how many videos did you upload to get started? Thank you .

@Wendy Dashwood-Quick I’m rooting for you, Wendy! You got this.
Aesthetic
Some of the reasons I didn’t jump on YouTube sooner is because I was embarrassed or unsure that my home was good enough. There was, like a decade, where I felt everyone had this minimalist white home and mine wasn’t up to snuff. I’m embarrassed to even say this because I’m a confident person, but it’s true. But then there was this shift and people started to have actual lived in homes, with their own personality. Plus the ideas of thrifting, under buying, cozy core, using what you have recently started to emerge. I finally felt ok about my loved in spaces. My home is a 187 year old 600 square foot cottage in the woods. It still or constantly needs repairs. It’s far from perfect. But I’ve always loved it. I just didn’t feel comfortable sharing it. Also… YouTube is having this renaissance around you are your niche and that kind of authenticity is magic! That’s my total jam. Have you ever experienced this? How do you feel about sharing your spaces on camera?

I absolutely feel this. Even to the point that I feel the need to buy a new office chair so it looks “presentable” but sometimes I feel this is me giving myself an excuse not to film or to wait until everything is perfect. But it never will be, so work with what you have and most people probably won’t even notice the imperfections 😆
