Sure some wins from the last week!
Hey MOA brothers, Who is keen to share some of their wins from this past week? I am happy to start with a couple of big wins: 1. I got promoted to 3rd Degree Black Belt in BJJ after over 25 years of training and teaching, which was awesome and priceless for me personally! 2. My side hustle just got its first $4K month too of which I am really happy about and can only see it growing from here. How about the rest of you? ๐Ÿ‘Š

Exposure therapy - cold approach
I need to work on cold approach because there are times this holds me back. Especially at events where no one knows me. I think my biggest issue is I've read too many complaints from women about guys approaching them. Of course then other women are like why aren't guys approaching us! I'll get over that though lol. Looking for any advice, tips, suggestions.

Michael has said on many podcasts that cold approach is a waste of time when you could be building your social circle and networking. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't learn about it and give it a shot once in a while.

Fitness choice
Martial arts or lifting weights? Which one do you prefer and what style?

Focus on lifting first. Its a good base to have. Then after 3-5 months, start BJJ (nogi) or Muay Thai/Kickboxing. Plan in rest days, so shoot to workout and train fighting on the same days. Nogi bjj is good for when you go to the ground in a street fight, muay thai/Kickboxing helps you not go to the ground in the first place. Strength training allows you to outlast your opponent/s. If you have the time and money do everything, its the complete package. Strength, endurance, standing, ground. Eventually look to add gun and knife disarming into the mix but if you have everything else you'll be more than ready to handle any situation that pops up.

But if I had to pick one for most people... I'd go with old school Gracie jujitsu. They are defiantly not modern, but they offer a complete package for self defense and fitness. You could always add lifting in after you progress.
