(Please Read) Live Session Classroom Update
Hi everyone! One of our core missions is to provide an online practice space where you can learn Tai Chi and Qigong in an efficient and effective way. We’re always looking for ways to optimize your experience and make your practice more organized and intentional. With that in mind, we’ve restructured the Weekly Live Session Classroom. Old Format šŸ‘‰ Live sessions were organized by month only. (Hard to navigate which classes included which practices, and it could feel overwhelming) NEW Format šŸ‘‰ You will still see this month’s live sessions (and the previous month’s) listed as usual. šŸ‘‰ After two months, all live sessions will be reorganized into CATEGORIZED practice series. What this means... for example, - If a weekly Qigong session focuses on Elemental Qigong, it will be placed inside the "Elemental Qigong" folder. - If a Qi & Flow session focuses on Tai Chi fundamentals, it will be placed inside the "Tai Chi Fundamentals" folder. Simple as that! No more guessing which class includes what practice! This way, you’ll be able to find exactly what you’re looking for—faster and more easily—without scrolling through months of recordings. Each session will also include a brief summary, so you can quickly understand what was covered and take notes more effectively. We hope this makes your study clearer, more structured, and easier to revisit over time. And as always, if you have any feedback—now or in the future—please feel free to share it. Thank you I’m excited to get familiar with the new format
Practice is causing some stress
I feel kind of stupid and this may be a simple question but when I follow Sonny in practice I start mirroring his moves. When he faces the camera I start out moving left when he moves left then right when he moves right. Then I find myself moving right when he moves left and left when he moves right. When his back or side profile is shown in practice I can match him with no issues. Does anyone have the same issue?

The beauty of a studio with mirrors is you can turn your back to us and we can still see the arm movement in the mirror.

Sonny, could you put the names and numbers to the 24 forms. I know that they can have different names. I just wanted to match up with you. Thanks

Left and Right
A quick question: following prompts, trying to remember forms and movements, how crucial is left and right? I mean that not only am I left-handed, I'm extremely left-sided: my left eye is slightly myopic, my right very much so; my left shoe wears out much quicker than the right; despite similar injuries forty of years ago, I have quite painful osteoarthritis in my right knee, far less in my left; quite nasty varicose veins on my right leg, only very mild on my right. We "lefties" have come in for some stick historically: Latin for "left" is "sinister", right is "dexter" (even though I'm very "dextrous" with my left hand!); an obsolete English phrase for "left-handed" was "cack-handed", dating from before the invention of toilet paper! At school, my late dad (born 1925) was beaten across the hand with a ruler if he had the temerity to write with his left hand. That left him with a lifelong stutter. So generally in life my instinct is simply to reverse hands: if instructions say do something with my right, I do it with my left. Generally, that works very well (although sometimes it raised eyebrows in traditional settings when I lived in the Middle East!). How applicable is that to practice in Qi Gong and Tai Ji? Are there some moves and forms that HAVE to be right-led, as instructed? Or so long as both sides are practiced does that matter? How does that relate to Yin and Yang? Might practice, through harmonising Yin and Yang, eventually make one more ambidextrous? I don't mean "cure" left-handedness, I'm fine as I am, I just mean create something of a better balance. Any advice welcome!

I got a laugh out of Sonny calling left handed a condition šŸ˜‚ I love being left handed even if we live in a right handed world. Sonny is right it is easier to learn some things right handed, example knitting, Taich ,playing the ukulele but I dribble and shoot with my left, play Water Polo with my left etc. Leftys have a gift to being able to live in two worlds and of course I love being special šŸ˜‰
